Celestron 80 Overview

The angled-viewing Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit from Celestron features a prismatic spotting scope with an 80mm objective.

All models in the Ultima line are mated to an eyepiece and render views that are both right side up and laterally correct to the world, making them good for both terrestrial and celestial observing. All Ultimas are waterproof, making them more robust than ever before. Celestron surely is delivering exceptional value.

The Ultima line offers the choice between 45° angled viewing or straight viewing. Most users will prefer angled scopes because they are both simple to use for birds perched high above the viewer, as well as easily shared among users of differing heights. But some will prefer the straight-through viewing models, for these are much easier to use when hunting down the object of interest in the first place. Straight-viewing models are also usually a bit lighter, brighter, and less expensive. The choice is yours.

Certain Celestron products include their "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your spotting scope will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own it, no questions asked!  The only requirement on the user's end is to ship the spotting scope (at the user's cost) to Celestron, with proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping, and handling.  This warranty service is valid only for USA and Canadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

Built-In T-Mount Threading for SLR Shooting

The angled-viewing Celestron Ultima series feature a T-mount threading upon the eyepiece barrel, allowing your scope to act as an ultratelephoto lens for your SLR camera (digital or film) with just the addition of a camera-specific T-mount adapter.

Celestron 80 Reviews

Ultima 80 viewing while collecting data.

I bought this Celestron Ultima 80 zoom spotting scope so I could look at the sky while I was tracking and photographing with my main rig. It shows the sky with very clear views. The Moon looks stunning and when zoomed in fills more than the viewing area so the craters look impressive. You can attach a camera to the eyepiece with an adapter which I haven't found in stock yet. With the adapter I know it will take good pictures of the Moon. I sold my 80mm binoculars to buy this because I prefer to look through one eye like with my telescopes. I am happy with my choice.

I used it to see the rings of Saturn last night. One negative is that the front lens cover does not fit very well and the latch on the cover on one side keeps falling out and the spring comes out. This is a very poor plastic lens cover.

Bang for the buck!

I am new to using a spotting scope. Wanted something powerful balancing quality to price and this performed better than my expectations. I love this one so much I can imagine myself spending four times more for a minor increase in scope size - that tells you the value of such this scope. You're not overpaying nor under paying. It is worth every penny and thats the sweet spot.

Not what I ideally was looking

I bought this to look from my house over the ocean on boats that we’re going by. It doesn’t do a very good job and quite honestly if he needs a very very stable tripod, possibly one that’s in the ground screw it in.

Terrific scope!

This scope is easily mountable, 45 degree eyepiece makes easy to see , without the need to bend over, the delivery was prompt and am very happy with purchase. Regards John

What is a good carry pack for this scope- like a Slingshot 250?
Asked by: Steve
Yes the Lowepro Slingshot Edge 250 AW would work fine. You will just have to move around the inserts to make it fit the scope. You should have room for other things as well. This is the B&H part number on our website for the bag BH #LOSSE250.

could you see clearly .224 holes on your target at 1000 yards?
Asked by: Giles
At 1,000 yards, all bullet holes will appear small. With the Ultima 80, you will most likely see the target, but .224 holes will be more of a challenge. Your best choice is to use a larger aperture spotting scope such as the Celestron C-5 or a C-90. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

question

Hi,I am having trouble finding an attachment for my Nikon D3300. I have purchased the standard T attachment but it seems as though there is something still missing. Can anyone please help?Thank you,Kevin
Asked by: Kevin K.
So all you will need is a Vello Lens Mount Adapter - T Mount Lens to Nikon F Mount Camera. Then you just peel the Eyecup Piece off of the Eyepiece, and there is a threading where you thread the T-Adapter. Website link: https://bhpho.to/2j6zqU9

Sorry. I am not familiar with common designs of spotting scopes. Is there a tripod mount? is it a 1/4" screw or something else? All of my tripods are set for Arca Swiss mounts. If it is screw mount I can add an Arca Swiss plate.
Asked by: Douglas
All spotting scopes have a 1/4" screw hole for mounting any type of Arca-Swiss quick release plate.

question

Does this scope come with a padded case cover?
Asked by: Danny F.
I see multiple answers with varying responses. The real answer is NO, it does not come with a padded case. However, it does come with a nicely appointed case with a heavy material and smooth zipper. The case can be left on the scope and used to as a rain cover or protective cover as it can be opened on both ends. Hope this helps!
