Will this REALLY hold 6.6 lbs. if it is extended all the way out horizontally 20" with the weight at the end?
Asked by: John
Without knowing particulars, that sounds like an unsafe application, especially if it’s mounted overhead. Magic arms are designed like human arms, with two sections connected by an elbow joint. A 90 degree angle between the two sections is strong and reliable. The further one moves toward 0 degrees, the less stable the rig becomes.

The most I've put on one is an FS-7 with a lens. I'm sure it will hold more. They are incredibly useful

question

How do you attach the magic arm to the Manfrotto tripod?
Asked by: Anonymous
the illustrated arm is shown without the necessary super clamp that must be purchased along with the magic arm. The clamp (either a Manfrotto or a knock-off brand B&H also carries) has a connector that allows either clamping to a table or to a round object like a tripod leg. Just be sure the tripod leg is not too skinny to allow attaching the super clamp

Just out or curiosity. Are the company name and serial number printed on the arm or is it a sticker?
Asked by: Ildar
I have the Manfrotto 244n arm, and the Manfrotto 244 micro arm. On closer inspection the large arm, 244n, has the Manfrotto name on what is a sticker, a substantial sticker, I've had both for many years, they also have patent numbers on each arm. These are very good arms that allow many attachments without movement of the attachment. I would buy both again if I needed to.
