This 18 x 24" Flag from Matthews can be used to block and control natural or artificial light, protect the camera lens from flares, control spill light from other sources, or keep light from reaching an area on the set.
The 90° metal, stainless steel frame is designed to position the instrument over the top of the set wall or to use two or more units to create a box for better light control.

Been using Matthews Road Rags for years. Finally broke down and got these guys. Wow! Not as compact, but WAY stronger. Don't have to worry about the wind damaging these frames.
I was a bit skeptical when ordering these as I was not sure how heavy they would be. They are very light considering their size and yet very sturdy. The metal rod you see does come with it and is attached out of the box. Very good at controlling the light. One of those items you don't need everyday but when you do they are super useful. They block the light as expected and are built to last.
