The Lastolite EzyBalance Gray Card is a revolutionary tool ideal for adjusting color balance and exposure settings in both digital and film format cameras, as well as DV cams. The EzyBalance gives accurate color rendition to cameras by providing a pure white surface upon which the camera can perform a white balance.

The reverse side of the EzyBalance provides an 18% gray card surface suitable for adjusting the camera to get the most accurate exposure setting. Conventional methods of exposure control consist of using large gray cumbersome cardboard that is easily stained and over time becomes dog-eared, posing the risk of taking incorrect exposure readings. By design, the EzyBalance folds to just a third of its 12" opened round size making it infinitely more convenient and allowing it to fit into a small bag or pocket.

Suitable for all environments.
High quality, durable wipe-clean surface material, sewn to a sprung steel rim using triple row stitch technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool for the price I've been using both the grey and white sides of this card for some headshot work I've been doing, and it works really well. The surfaces seem to be just the right texture for the job, and unlike some super cheap versions, they don't seem as if they're going to flake or peel off any time soon. The best thing about it is that it's just so light. I have subjects throw it back to me like a Frisbee when I'm done with the set up shots. The only downside I can think of that that because it folds away into a small circular shape (in a nice sturdy case) it holds a slightly warped shape when it's full size, but I think that's to be expected and doesn't really affect the performance that much. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money very well spent The EZ Balance is very easy to use to set white balance and measure exposure. I used it recently to shoot a wedding, and the results were fantastic. While setting up, I shot a few pictures of the white table cloths using both the automatic white balance setting, and the program setting for the light I was under. I then set a custom white balance using the EZ Balance Grey Card, and the results were noticeably better. It really made the bride's white gown come out brilliantly white. It is also small and light enough that I will take this with me to certain events even when I don't carry my full kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good addition to a camera bag This is a good quality product. It comes with a soft case and when folded is small enough to fit in most camera bags. However, when unfolded, it is large enough to fill the frame using most lenses regardless of their length. The paint on both sides, gray/white, makes it look to be made of some sort of strong latex material, which is easy to clean. As a gray card, getting the correct exposure is easier whether you're using a film or digital camera. As a white balancing card it can save a lot of post processing time when you're looking to get the whitest white shooting under mixed lighting conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality; a bit dark for low light. I really like the build quality of this product, and it is easy to fold for very small storage. However, I do feel that the gray side is a bit darker gray than I would like because I sometimes have a hard time getting a good white balance on this in low light. I also have a tiny WhiBal brand card, and it is a much lighter gray that seems to work better in low light. The size of this (12x12) is what convinced me to buy it because the tiny WhiBal card was just too small for many situations. The white back of this card also seems to work (which I tried in low light), but I'm not exactly sure the white side is a proper white for white balance. All-in-all, this card does a good job and is great if you need to balance from afar and zoom into the card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent low-cost white balance system I purchased the Lastolite 12 EZ Balance after looking at virtually every white balance system I could find. For some years now I have been using the small QPCard for white balance. While I am happy with the results from the QPCard, the small size has made it difficult to use in some situations. The 12 EZ Balance is an ideal compromise between size and usability. It is large enough for studio use, yet portable enough for location use. It collapses down to 5-inches and stores in its heavy-duty 6-inch zippered case. That it is among the lowest cost solutions of this size is a bonus. Some experimentation shows that the EZ Balance white side matches the QP Card white patch precisely in color. A custom white balance from one will exactly match the other. I was surprised at just how close these two are, but take that as a good sign. The construction seems good. The wire folding ring is strong and about 10mm wide. The material has a rubbery feel, is thick, and very opaque. The stitching looks to me like typical surged double stitch, not perfect, but not inordinately sloppy either. It appears strong enough that I would bet on the material wearing out before any stitching gives way. The case is a very heavy nylon with an appropriately gauged, smooth zipper. I cannot comment on the longevity of the colorant used for this material, but would guess that with proper care and storage, it will last for some years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone Should Have One of These! Lastolite has a winner with their EZ Balance grey card. No matter which size you purchase, your images will improve dramatically. You probably don't realize how off your color is until you use one of these. End the frustration of looking at your pictures and thinking, Hmmm, I thought the colors looked better in person. Your camera isn't as smart as you think it is! I'll never be without this tool again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, and Just Works I needed to get more consistent white balance and this was the ticket. Just place in front of subject where the appropriate lighting will be located, and take a preset white balance. I use a Nikon D7000, and this was done by putting my white balance on the PRE mode then filling the frame with the gray side of the card, focusing and taking a pic as the PRE is flashing in the viewfinder. It says Good or No Good letting you know if it worked. Then just start taking pics. If the lighting changes you need to do this again. Or just have the person hold up the card for reference, then use it in post to pick the neutral gray and apply to all images. Make sure you use a 50mm of higher just so you can fill the frame of the card. This card also is easy to fold up like a mini reflector.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Grey card yes, WB no so much As a grey card it works great as you would expect but for white balance I find it not as accurate. Most of the time I find it generating a balance that is too warm and other times it looked too cool. So that is disappointing.
