The black, spring-loaded Matthpole from Matthews offers a unique "expanding casting" that provides pressure for holding the Matthpole in place between door jambs, in window frames, or between floors and ceilings. Use it to clamp various lighting, background, or grip equipment to it with full confidence. It extends from 4.4 to 8.2 ft, and weighs just 3.5 lb.

Matthews Matthpole Reviews
Keep pushing - Locking lever must be parallel with pole

I would have given this 5 stars but there were no instructions in the shipping box which required me to reach out to B & H who helped. When you extend the pole to the ceiling (e.g., vertical mount), you push down on the locking mechanism but it only goes 3/4 of the way and rests on the platform (I did not force it out of fear of breaking it). But with B & H's help (Ejona), we figured out what was needed -- you need to keep pushing which in turn will create additional locking tension to secure the pole. Recommendation: Insert instructions (recognizing that most instructions are poorly written, at least the bare minimum would have helped).

Great for getting light up high indoors without a stand.

question
I come into situations where i I can't use stands and need to hang lights without drilling into walls/ceilings.. I'm looking at wall spreaders but this one seems more practical for the way I shoot.. Can this hold the weight of a light fixture as a kino flo or something similar in the range of 5-6kg?!
You can hang any light reasonable size if you install the pole in vertical position, but if you're using the pole in horizontal position like from wall to wall, I will suggest after extension of the pole , I will advice to brace it with two Varypole to support the end to end vertically for safety purpose, because the pole can sag overtime and come loose.
her is what you'll need : two varipole, two double super clamp and the maxi Matt-pole, these should hang any light without sagging.
