Microphone Madness MCSM-4 overview

  • 1Description

The Microphone Madness MCSM-4 is a miniature cardioid lavalier microphone that features dual elements for stereo capturing. The 1/8" connection is completely compatible with microphone inputs found on MiniDiscs, Dat recorders and analog portable recorders that supply a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10 volts D.C. (also known as plug in power). The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing off-axis noise and ambiance. The microphone provides a signal response that features smooth mid-range, and clean high frequency response for maximum detail.

Stereo Lavalier
Dual cardioid lavaliers are featured and provide easy microphone placement for stereo capturing.
Single 1/8" (3.5mm) Output
Both elements feature shielded cables and terminate to a single stereo 1/8" output connector. The connector is compatible with microphone inputs that supply a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10 volts D.C. (also known as plug in power).
Cardioid Polar Pattern
Both capsules provide cardioid polar patterns which are effective in minimizing off-axis audio and noise.

    Microphone Madness MCSM-4 reviews

MCSM-4 Stereo Lavalier Microphone is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but Bulky I bought these to use with a Zoom when recording audio for video interviews. They are built solidly of good materials and make excellent recordings when the mics are chin high on the lapel, but they are far too bulky to hide and too large and distracting when left exposed, even when you take off the wind screens. If you are doing audio only, they can't be beat for the price. However, if you are looking for a small Lavalier that you can hide or won't be a visual distraction, these ain't the best choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovin' these things. So, I was in NYC and needed an easy (and inexpensive) way to record ambient sounds without being terribly obvious. I used these with my Edirol R-09, and they worked like a champ. They feel solid, the sound was good enough, and the price was AWESOME.
