The trays are basically as they have always been - strong and sturdy. Nothing fancy - just reilable.

Good quality for a very low Price.

I used 8x10 Yankee trays years ago when I was doing lots of darkroom prints for my business. Now that I am getting back into the darkroom for my personal work, I find that the design has not changed in 30 years except for one key thing: I am tray developing 8x10 b&w sheet film using the shuffle method Ansel Adams outlines in his book THE NEGATIVE- the ribs on the bottom are now angled up on two sides of the tray allowing for better control of the slippery sheets. The different colors help to identify the various chemicals. They often seem too light to be strong but are actually very rigid. The price is unbelievably cheap- designed in the US they must me make in China.

question

Are the ribs inverted or raised on the inside?
Asked by: Amanda F.
ribs are raised. at the top and bottom of the tray, the ribs are about a 1/4 inch and they quickly reduce to barely a nub in the middle. good for getting tongs under the paper or film but virtually flat in the middle.
