Garfield SGARHS4 overview

  • 1Description

The green Headphone Softie from Garfield is a set of soft headphone earpad covers, made of a velour-like rayon chenille fabric. The covers will fit most full-sized, circum-aural headphones, such as the Sony MDR-7506 and the Senal SMH-1000.

This product is designed with both practicality and comfort in mind, providing a nice cushiony feel for extended wear. It is also resistant to temperature extremes by providing warmth in cold weather, and deflecting perspiration in hot, humid locations.

The headphone Softies have no adverse effect on the frequency response or audio delivery of the headphones.

Garfield SGARHS4 reviews

Headphone Softie Earpad Covers (Green, Pair) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 148.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good solution to simmple problem This was a good solution to the problem of the pleather earpiece covers deteriorating on my 20 year old Sony MDR-V6 headphones. These covers work well, you do get a little more pressure on your ears as the cans no longer have the cup shape to totally cover your ears with the fabric in the way, but I didn't notice a dramatic increase in noise, I will stop short of calling these uncomfortable, but you will notice the difference after wearing the headphones for more than a couple hours. The main drawback in my mind is the relatively high cost for a set of booties for your headphones... even so, its less than a third of the cost of a set of replacement headphones.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from satisfactory but not very comfy I got these to cover over the deteriorated original earpads of my Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I do lots of transcription so my headphones get heavy use. PROS: The material is a soft, pleasant texture; the covers are easy to put on and fit the headphones perfectly; they can't deteriorate like the original plastic-covered fabric does. CONS: Because the covers flatten out the concave shape of the earpads underneath, they make the headphones press much harder against the ears and so they become very uncomfortable if I wear them very long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Solution Like everyone else, I purchased the headphone softie because my quality headphones have been peeling and leaving black bits on my ears for quite awhile. While I didn't want to completely replace the foam, nor did I want to purchase new headphones, I believe this product is the best solution. They are a little tight fitting at first and when putting them on, but they truly are temperature neutral. The one downside is that there is no longer a hole for your ear. My ear doesn't hurt while wearing these, but once I take them off, I realize that my ears are a bit crushed. However, I would indeed buy this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony MDR-7506 owners rejoice!!! Love your Sony cans? Hate how the cup pads fall apart and get black stuff on your head and face? Hate that little ear fatigue from wearing them too long? Hate wearing them in the heat/cold? Want your headphones to just be more comfy to wear? If you answered yes to any of these questions: GET THESE. This is my second set. I have two pairs of 7506s that I use for field/sound recording, music production monitoring/mixing, podcasting, and general recording. These things make wearing them a dream! And having different colors for different podcasters/users is something I really enjoy. Seems very professional to me. SAVE THE PLEATHER! Get yourself some Softies!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfort without loss of sound quality I have an old pair of headphones that I absolutely love, but the earpad vinyl started peeling off. The pads are still comfortable, but the peeling vinyl would stick to my face and get caught in my hair. I looked for replacement pads, because the headphones are still in good working order, but could not find anything that cost less than what it would cost me to replace the headphones. These earpad covers are perfect! They make the headphones even more comfortable than they were without subtracting from the sound quality! I am so happy that I found these and will probably purchase more in the near future. I believe they will help keep the earpads of other headphones I own in good shape for a long time and might even provide more comfort!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not bad Haven't used much yet, but can tell you that if you've used the fantastic Sony MDR-7506 regularly over 6 months, you're experiencing disintegrating surrounds and this product can help reduce additional wear & tear. I'm hoping that there is a break-in period after which the fabric relaxes and allows my ears to sink into the cavities within the foam surrounds. Right now, they are taught like a trampoline and makes the earpads rest at the surface of your ear, rather than covering it and feels like they could come off easily. I haven't had in extreme temperatures, but are very comfortable. The weave of the fabric is so loose it can't effect the sound quality/freq. response. Probably a bit overpriced for what they are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Softies - Comfy, but not ear pads I bought these thinking I could get these instead of replacement earpads for my headphones. They are really just covers for your existing earpads. I'm using them now over my old and decaying earpads, but really wish there was a product that was a set of earpads that didn't decay and flake off bits of black after a few years. I also found out that my current headphones are now far cheaper than they were, so next time I'll just replace the headphones. Even though these weren't what I was hoping for, they are more comfortable to have sitting against your ears for a long stretch of time. I had to cut a couple notches in the elastic on these so that the attachment points for my headphones would be able to rotate freely. They were held in tight until I did that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revitalizing Headphone Covers! BeyerDynamic DT770 headphones' earpads are getting a little grungy after 12+ years (Ew. I know). I looked around for replacement earpads and decided to try these out. Without removing the old plush velour earpads, these slip right over and are both soft and non-irritating for long listening sessions. Nor does it affect the passive sound isolation or sound quality to my ears. Even better, I feel a more secure fit with these than without. Granted, they touch my ears and without it does not, but it has not bothered me yet. And I don't think it will. And the gold color is snazzy. Like. Soft ear cradle trampolines.
