Nikon AS-15 Overview

The Nikon AS-15 enables the connection of flash sync cords fitted with standard PC-type connector to the camera body via the built-in hot shoe.  It is suitable for cameras that do not feature a PC-sync terminal; it has a PC female socket upon its side, and you would attach a cord with a "PC male" end upon it just as if you were using a camera's PC female socket.

Note:
This does not provide high-voltage sync protection, and is not recommended for flash units that have more than 6v.

This little accessory is a very necessary item in order for me to utilize Alien Bees electronic flash units. This is exactly what I need. It looks to be very robust and well-constructed which is important since I intend to use my flash units for outdoors photography. It looks as if it will provide many years of flawless service.

My Nikon D7100 doesn't have a PC connection to fire my studio strobes. If you're looking for a hard wire sync to your lights, this is a perfect solution.

question

I am taking a photo lighting class and also need 2 to 3 STUDIO STROBE UNITS: A larger, more powerful version of the portable flash unit. This is often used in studio environments and require an external power supply or battery. I'd like to find the most affordable option. I do have a Lowel-Tota light and several soft box lights, can these be used for this purpose?

Hey Marsha,This would be great to connect one flash and then use optical slave for the rest. Another great option is to get the wireless vello triggers. They might have some used. I use this to trigger one flash and slave the rest. With the PC cord it can disrupt your shoot if it gets pulled out or even worst if it's not long enough.

question

I have a Nikon d750. What settings should I do to attach an as-15 terminal to it and prevent the pop up flash from firing ?
Asked by: Samaresh S.
Not sure about the d750, but on my d7100, the pop up flash does not automatically pop up when the mode selector is in the Program mode. If I select Auto (little green icon on the mode wheel), the flash will pop up when there is insufficient light. You may also try the shutter, aperture, or manual mode.

question

I want to use my bower 926n off camera, is this what I need, and what else?Thank youIf it's just as simple for you, just stick what I need in my wish list. (o:

If you wish to use the Bower 926N Speedlight Flash manually off-camera, and you are purchasing the Nikon AS-15, you would also need to purchase both the Nisha Hot Shoe/Tripod Mount, B&H # NIHTST, and a Impact Sync Cord - Male PC to Male PC - 6' (1.8 m), B&H # IMPCMPCM6, as the Bower 926N does not have a built-in flash sync terminal. However, if you need off-camera i-TTL automatic exposure, then I would recommend an off-shoe cable, such as either the Nikon SC-28 TTL Remote Cord - Coiled 3-9', B&H # NISC28, Nissin SC-01 Coiled Universal Off-Camera Shoe Cord (5'/1.5m), B&H # NINDSC01, or the longer Interfit Multi-Fit TTL Cord for Nikon/Canon/Fuji Cameras (32'/10m), B&H # INSTR137.

Hi, would I be able to attach a Canon Speedlite ...

Hi, would I be able to attach a Canon Speedlite EL-1 to this hot shoe? Alternatively, could I connect it to a Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT (Ver. 2) so I can control more than one Speedlite? What are my limitations? Thank You.
Asked by: Frank
The Nikon AS-15 Sync Terminal Adapter (Hot Shoe to PC) can be used to connect to the Canon Speedlite EL-1 with a PC-sync cable. The Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT (Ver. 2) cannot be connected, as the ST-E3-RT does not have an input terminal for a PC-sync cable. The terminal on the ST-E3-RT is only for triggering a camera.
