Nikon DK-20C overview

  • 1Description

The DK-20C -5.0 Correction Eyepiece for Rectangular-Style Viewfinder from Nikon allows you to optimize your SLR/DSLR viewfinder's sharpness in conjunction with your individual eyesight. Nikon SLR/DSLR cameras (without built-in adjustable eyepiece correction) have a base diopter value of minus one. Minus one is considered the optimum starting point for the majority of SLR/DSLR users with normal vision. The combination of the camera's viewfinder components and a clear (standard) eyepiece form a virtual image of a subject on the camera's focusing screen that is the approximate equivalent of a viewing distance of one meter.

Each Nikon eyepiece diopter incorporates a numerical value, represented by a minus value (nearsighted) or a plus value (farsighted) number, enabling you to select the appropriate diopter for your vision and your camera model.

The eyepiece's diopter value is, when combined with the viewfinders minus one value, the end-result value. No combination of the camera's base value of minus one and a given accessory diopter's value is required to arrive at the final desired value. In other words, if you require a diopter of plus 3, simply add a plus 3 diopter to your camera.

    Nikon DK-20C reviews

DK-20C Correction Eyepiece for Rectangular-Style Viewfinder (-5.0) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What an easy life ! Works perfectly with the new D5000, 3 seconds to remove the original one and place this special viewfinder. No more rubber ring around the wiever but not an issue. It is so convinient to place our eye without glasses between your eye and the viewer! Just put your pair of glasses on your head and then catch your best pictures ! All people wearing glasses should adopt those special viewers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I can see! The Viewfinder by Nikon makes a tremendous difference. I had been having major problems focusing and now I can see!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Helpful Eyeglasses are a pain while shooting in low light, for critical focus and other difficult situations. My poor vision is far beyond the built in viewfinder adjustment on my cameras. This diopter plus the built in adjustment allows me to see much more clearly before firing the shutter release. I used the round, screw in version for many years and have added the rectangular, slide on type for the newer cameras.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Corrects fine, but cannot use the eyecup This works as a diopter adjustment on the D300, but the piece is made incorrectly. The eyecup or magnifying eyepiece should fit over the diopter just like the diopter wasn't there, but the slot on the rear of the diopter is made too small for the subsequent pieces to fit. That really limits the utility of this device. The eyepiece cap does fit, as it has somewhat thinner rails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relief for the Myopic I got used to flipping my glasses to the top of my head and using this eyepiece on my D80. When I broke it after getting my D7000, I just figured I would go back to scratching my glasses, but glasses and viewfinders don't make good bedfellows. So off it was to get a new eyepiece. My eyes thank me. My glasses thank me. You'll thank me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why did I wait I always had problems using the menu in the viewfinder with my glasses, now I can clearly see the LED's in the viewfinder and can get closer to the viewfinder than when I wear my glasses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked like a charm! Shouldn't have had to get it for a camera (D3200) of that quality but be that as it may it did correct it for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can use with Nikon Rubber Eyepiece Just be aware that it's either the rubber eyepiece - or the diopter - but not both
