Nikon DK-20C overview

  • 1Description

The DK-20C +1.0 Correction Eyepiece for Rectangular-Style Viewfinder from Nikon allows you to optimize your SLR/DSLR viewfinder's sharpness in conjunction with your individual eyesight. Nikon SLR/DSLR cameras (without built-in adjustable eyepiece correction) have a base diopter value of minus one. Minus one is considered the optimum starting point for the majority of SLR/DSLR users with normal vision. The combination of the camera's viewfinder components and a clear (standard) eyepiece form a virtual image of a subject on the camera's focusing screen that is the approximate equivalent of a viewing distance of one meter.

Each Nikon eyepiece diopter incorporates a numerical value, represented by a minus value (nearsighted) or a plus value (farsighted) number, enabling you to select the appropriate diopter for your vision and your camera model.

The eyepiece's diopter value is, when combined with the viewfinders minus one value, the end-result value. No combination of the camera's base value of minus one and a given accessory diopter's value is required to arrive at the final desired value. In other words, if you require a diopter of plus 3, simply add a plus 3 diopter to your camera.

    Nikon DK-20C reviews

DK-20C Correction Eyepiece for Rectangular-Style Viewfinder (+1.0) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs work Works as advertised, however, NIKON need to control manufacturing better. The (2) grooves located at the sides of the diopter and too small. About .030 too small. Unless you have the strength of SUPERMAN, you will have an extremely difficult time getting this device attached. Removal? Don't even think about it. Once it's on - that's it. I bought two and tried each on my D60 and D80. I small filing of the grooves made them usable. NIKON, please fix this defect in manufacture.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from An ugly solution This component is cheap as the camera it goes on. I bought it for a D7200 to correct my vision at +1 because the adjustment command on the camera was already fully turned. Contrarily to the diopters on the D800 series, this one needs a hammer to be inserted, then it does no longer allow the rubber eye piece to be mounted. Nikon support confirmed that you can have one or the other, not both. Yes, it might help to correct the vision but the camera without the rubber piece looks uglier than it was already. It is not B&H fault, but Nikon's; I won't return it but won't use it either.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be sure you have a file handy Slots at side of the diopter need to be filed slightly as they are way too thin and do not fit onto the D80 or D60 without extreme pressure. Forget removal. They need to be re-slotted with a file or sandpaper to fit properly. I bought a +1 and a +.5 diopter for a D60 and a D80.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product not for me! Good product but not for me. Thinking that I use +1 reading glasses I purchased this viewfinder but I can't see or focus anything. The product if perfect but not for me. I believe I made a mistake but it is my fault,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved my D300 viewfinder problem I purchased a used Nikon D300 in excellent condition with one exception. The diopter adjustment on the viewfinder did not work and I could not get a sharp finder image with my glasses. I did some experimenting and found I needed +1diopter correction. The +1 diopter correction lens works perfectly giving a clear sharp viewfinder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Focus Diopter adjustment on the camera itself was a little out of range for my eye(s). This, in combo with the built adjuster made, every thing perfectly clear (focused).
    Date published: 2012-12-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly Provides the exact extra correction that I couldn't quite dial in on the built-in diopter adjustment. No need for glasses using the optical viewfinder.
    Date published: 2015-05-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive solution to sharp images Pros: Inexpensive Magnifies viewfinder to acheive sharp images Cons: Needs modification to install- too tight fitting
