Nikon 566 overview

  • 1Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Nikon 566 reviews

HN-22 Lens Hood is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what my 60mm lens was lacking! As the headline reads, this lens hood was exactly what my 60mm f/2.8 micro lens was lacking. Because I use my lens less for macro photography and more for portraits, I found that while pointing it straight at a subject, the sun would cause a haze-effect to appear on my photos. Generally, I would counter this by shading the lens with my hand or baseball cap. Along comes the lens hood -- what a life saver! This lens hood is solid, exactly what I expected from a Nikon product. While it is a screw-on type, the threads were very smooth and gripped the lens threads with ease (I've had trouble with other brands in the past). Cons: none -- I absolutely love this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have For My Nikon 60 ! The HN-22 is a must have for your Nikon lens, I use mine on a Nikon 60mm f/2.8D Micro lens to help reduce flare and ghosting, this is a metal lens hood (screw on) so its durable and gives extra protection to the front of your lens as well as blocking out excess light. The HN-22 Lens Hood is a must have for any of the lens it was designed for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple metal hood Purchased to replace a petal-shaped plastic hood supplied with Fuji lens. The Nikon hood is shallower and packs better, but isn't as high performance as the petal hood. The threads bind a bit to my B+W brass filter, so sometimes when removing the hood, the filter comes off with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Must Have! A must have for your lenses. Don't want to ruin good shots just because of a little glare. This is a metal screw on hood, so it's durable. Like most of the screw on hoods, it sometimes get stuck, but that's normal and doesn't ruin the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Addition to any D Series Lens Nice metal hood, that fits very nicely with the lens. I have it screwed on top of a Nikon NC Filter, and the 67mm cap fits nicely. I use it on the 60mm Macro, on a DX body, so its nice for when I use it outside for portraits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely built metal hood I use this hood on my Tamron AD2 35-80mm f/2.8-3.8 lens. It greatly reduces flare and ghosting and improves contrast. The front of the hood takes 82mm lens cap that make this screw-in hood much easier to handle in the field.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good protection Use daily on my 35-70 2.8 nikon lens to stop unwanted light from entering the lens. Also protects the front elements from accidental bumps and scrapes. Solid construction, easy to install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for your accessories bag This greatly improves those real close-in shots, keeping out the unwanted shows or excess glare. Well worth the small investment.
