question

Can I use this remote control for long exposure photography (in Time or Bulb setting)?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, Nikon does not indicate that the Nikon ML-3 Modulite Remote Control Set can be used for long exposure or bulb photography, and does not indicate its usage for long-exposure photography in the instruction manual. As it is an infrared remote, I would not recommend this remote for this usage. A better option would be a radio remote that would still use the 10-pin remote terminal connection and is stated for long exposure use. One I have personally used and recommend would be the Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon w/10-Pin Connection, B&H # VERWN1, which uses a two-button press system to start/stop a bulb exposure, and does not require you to continuously hold down the button for exposure needs. Radio remotes also benefit by having longer range, not having issues with obstacles blocking signal transmission, and in this case, is also more economical compared to the Nikon remote. http://bhpho.to/JAV1uQ

question

is this remote compatible with the Nikon D300S?
Asked by: Anonymous
Short answer: Yes. Better answer, because this is the second is this compatible with my camera question I've received an email about for this product: Nikon has a lot of great information on their web site. Why trust a stranger when you can ask the source? Go to the product page for your camera. If it's an older model you may have to use their search feature to get to it. Once on that product page, click accessories. You will see all then Nikon products compatible with your camera. You can narrow it down by type...wireless triggers, for instance. This model and several others are listed for the D300S. That's where I found your answer.
