Nikon 2652 overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon PK-12 Auto Extension Tube provides 14mm of extension, and can be used with any Nikon SLR lenses longer than 50mm, or with a reversed 50mm lens (using a reverse adapter).

Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.

The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens farther away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.

Provides perfect coupling and retains both AI aperture and meter coupling. Does not support AF operation.

    Nikon 2652 reviews

PK-12 Extension Tube is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality and results Some purchasers have rated this item low because of compatibility issues with certain equipment, which means only that they failed to do sufficient research before they spent their money. Nikon tubes are much stronger than the Kenko copies and will not flex under load as the cheaper ones will. They also attach *very* securely and tightly to the camera body. Beyond that, it's just a tube (no optics) which permits close focusing with appropriate lenses. An inexpensive and effective way to enjoy macro photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good with appropriate lens... Solid Ext tube, but won't work with any lens that does not have an external aperture ring. Nikon's extension tubes have no electronic connections, so any camera to lens communication is lost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tube for macro work. I've owned the PK-12 for years and it has always performed flawlessly. Great build quality. Some have complained that Nikon tubes won't work with modern gear. Here's some valuable info for you. As of 2013, Nikon does not make any tubes that provide autofocus capablilty or link the electrical data from camera to lens. You MUST use an older lens that has an aperture ring to set the f stop. And if you have a lower end Nikon DSLR body such as a D90, D5200, or D3200, you must use the camera in manual exposure mode. No metering will be provided which means you set the shutter and f stop according to an external light meter or guessing. If you need a tube that offers full capability, get the Kenko tubes. I use the PK-12 with my D300 and many film camera bodies and it works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for Macro Photography I bought this to use with my AF Micro Nikkor 60mm. It pretty much double the magnification. Nikon quality makes it worth the B&H price. NOTE: Must be used with a lens that has a manual aperature ring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PK-12 Extension Tube - connect to PB-6 I recently purchased a Nikon PB-6 Bellows to improve my capabilities for macro photography. I had my light table set up and had gotten some cut, but unmounted stones from a friend to photograph and was ready to roll. I opened my new PB-6, installed a lens and went to attach to my camera (D-300). It wouldn't fit because of the hand grip!I promptly ordered the PK-12 Extension Tube and was on my way when it arrived several days later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Works I bought this to use with a manual Tilt-Shift lens for macro work. The sturdy metal construction makes me more confident when I use multiple tubes and a heavy lens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with new digital cameras I did my research before I purchased this tube and nowhere did I see that it won't work with the new digital cameras. So I bought all three of the Nikon extension tubes and none of them work. I have a Nikon D90 and D7000 digital camera and none of them work with either camera. I went to the Nikon website and asked if they were planning to make extension tubes that would work with digital cameras and they responded with we cannot disclose product information that is not already on the Nikon website.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor by comparsion to Kinko Nikon needs to step up to the plate and up-date their extension tubes for the DSLR's. Kinko's extension tubes, aside from the plastic construction, out rank/perform Nikon tubes in performance.
