Furman PST-6 Reviews

Wow...worth the upgrade

My Monster power conditioner from 15 years ago took a dump I needed to find a new one. After seeing many rave reviews I got this unit. I swear it made my AVR sound better and I used to have a refresh "blip" on my screen when going from dark to light colors and that seems to have disappeared as well. HIGHLY recommend, I will be buying one for every entertainment system in my house!

Substantial unit

I purchased the 8 outlet version of this last year and have been pleased with its solid construction, so I got the 6 outlet version for my upstairs closet where i don't have quite as much space. This provides extra piece of mind for my connected network equipment. I hope it will perform well, since my area is prone to power outages and spikes, one of which recently fried one of the power supplies that was connected to the previous surge protector.

question

What is the difference between the Furman pst-6 and the Furman pst-8D in power conditioning properties.Am I not getting as good conditioning from the pst-6??
Asked by: Paul
According to the Furman site, the PST-6 has EMI/RFI filtration, under- and over-voltage shutoff. But the The PST-8 series has LiFT where AC noise is suppressed evenly so it does not add noise, and the SMP technology which is extreme voltage-shutdown which is the most common damaging event. I have the PST-8D and it improves the tv picture and somewhat computer visual both plugged into the digital part, isolating digital and analog inputs. I don't know if PST-6 would do those as much. But you can call Furman and ask them yourself. Hope that helps.

question

Will this work on home stereos and reduce the hiss/hum coming from the speakers when no input is selected just everything powered on. Guessing its from the amplifier. Thanks
Asked by: Paul
You can give it a try but more than likely you have other issues (e.g., grounding; interconnection; equipment like your amp) causing the hiss and hum.
