question
What is the difference between the Furman pst-6 and the Furman pst-8D in power conditioning properties.Am I not getting as good conditioning from the pst-6??
According to the Furman site, the PST-6 has EMI/RFI filtration, under- and over-voltage shutoff. But the The PST-8 series has LiFT where AC noise is suppressed evenly so it does not add noise, and the SMP technology which is extreme voltage-shutdown which is the most common damaging event. I have the PST-8D and it improves the tv picture and somewhat computer visual both plugged into the digital part, isolating digital and analog inputs. I don't know if PST-6 would do those as much. But you can call Furman and ask them yourself. Hope that helps.

question
Will this work on home stereos and reduce the hiss/hum coming from the speakers when no input is selected just everything powered on. Guessing its from the amplifier. Thanks
You can give it a try but more than likely you have other issues (e.g., grounding; interconnection; equipment like your amp) causing the hiss and hum.
