Novoflex BALL-19 Reviews
Excellent tiny ball head
The Novoflex Ball 19 works well as an ultralight ball head for hiking or other use where weight and compactness matter. I purchased the Neiger version (which has a removable flash shoe in place of the removable platform for this version) and added a small Arca-Swiss clamp (the reliable 1 Kirk model); together they weigh 138 grams, which is quite light considering that they hold my Sony A7R III and my usual smallish lenses firmly. Obviously, this isn't the best choice for large lenses. Moreover, there's no tension adjustment and it's not smooth in action like larger ball heads. But it works. I normally use a quite strong 36mm ball head, and I have others that are much larger and heavier, but the little Novoflex will work well enough when I want to go light.
Almost Perfect
I got this for use on a small monopod after I learned that a tilt head wouldn't easily permit vertical shooting. The ball head does with just a quick flick of the lever... BUT...the stem above the ball isn't quite long enough and the camera body cannot be turned to perfectly vertical--a relatively small camera, Sony A6300--but fortunately, as a monopod, it's a simple matter of tilting the mono a little bit for accurate vertical. If not for that, this would be a 5 star review. Note to Manufacturer: Do you test these things out before you sell them???
