Savage 6203750 overview

  • 1Description

The Savage Background Port-A-Stand Kit consists of two black folding upright stands that can rise to a height of 8' 10", a crossbar that can expand to a width of 9' 5", and a travel case with handle.

It is ideal for the photographer on the go. The stand (w/o paper) is lightweight (12 lb / 5.4 kg), and compact, collapsing to less than 44 inches.

The Port-A-Stand is designed to safely support 9' rolls of seamless paper, as well as cloth backgrounds as heavy as muslin. For 10' wide cloth backgrounds, either fold the edges under, or gather and drape the material to fit the width of the crossbar.

For extra safety, weights or sandbags are available as accessories to secure the setup around active children.
And don't forget a clamp or two, to secure your included roll of white seamless paper or to drape your cloth background more creatively.

Designed to support a paper or cloth background, up to 9' wide by 36' long.
Folds down quickly, and is stored in the included travel case.

Savage 6203750 reviews

Background Port-A-Stand Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 352.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money This is a second set I now have. I primarily use them for light stands. It does also work well as a paper stand. Do be careful when using wide paper at full height. Stand can be tippy. Sand bags will help. All screw fittings are plastic so do not over tighten. Easier to set up than the Savage Pole Vault style, which I also use. Legs lock in place, unlike Pole Vault model. Portability and sturdiness were my primary considerations for buying these. My first set is about 10 years old. I do not over tax my equipment, so it has lasted well. If available I would have purchased set without paper, but it was useful soon after I purchased it. Travel bag has improved over earlier versions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Light and portable but unreliable I wanted to have a background support system with a telescopic crossbar in addition to what I already had (a 3 section crossbar background support). Although it is light, portable and I like being able to adjust width any way I want, the quality disappointed. Within the first month of using it, one side dropped down twice. Luckily it was before the actual session started and that I usually have backgrounds kind of low, at only 5'. I'm afraid to use it since it does not tighten well. Also, it's a bit harder to put on a roll of paper than on the sectioned crossbar but if you have help, should not be a problem. Many reviews say that it is good for the money, unfortunately it was a poor quality product in my case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Small Studio Using this as a backdrop for product photography. My studio is actually a converted bedroom in my house. It is a small space and this product fits great! The expandable top bar is what makes it perfect for my application. Everything I needed to get started, except lighting of course, was in the box. Easy setup...less than 10 minutes from unboxing to shooting! The stands and frame are a bit lightweight, and wouldn't take a really heavy backdrop. The roll paper seems to be what it was designed for, although it says it is capable of handling a muslin cloth. Overall... a really great product for not a lot of money!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, reliable, and works great! There was a similar product for a little less money that was made by a different brand, but I'm glad I spent the extra money and went with the Savage one. I've ordered their seamless paper before and it is always great quality. This was the first time I ordered something other than seamless from them, but I am just as satisfied with the quality as always. The stand kit is easy to set up and take down, and doesn't weigh much making it easily transportable. It is perfect for a professional studio or a makeshift studio. The quality of the stands is great as well and they are very sturdy. I would highly recommend this to anyone seeking this type of product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy again, but I won't have to Pros -very sturdily built -nice carry bag -extends very high -makes for a very professional looking set up -can use a huge variety of rolls of paper that are very inexpensive Cons -doesn't come with any sort of A-clamp to hold the roll of paper from continuing to unroll, so make sure you buy a few from B&H or any hardware store. I use one at the top to hold the roll steady and two at the bottom to hold the paper flat on the legs of the stands

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Stand! I used this stand to take Christmas pictures of the children in my daughter's pre-school class. It was easy to assemble and position. Although not impossible to set up on your own, it goes up faster with an extra set of hands. The construction was excellent. I was concerned at first that the lightweight design would result in tipping but was please to see that even with rambunctious pre-schoolers that it was steady and never once seemed wobbly or likely to fall over. The travel case provides ease of transport and the stand is reasonable in weight. I loved how easily it adjusts for the environment that I was in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great portable backdrop stand This backdrop stand is very nice and very portable. I love the case it comes in with a handy shoulder strap. It is not built to last a lifetime, but it doesn't weigh a hundred pounds, either. For the value, I think it is an excellent buy. I generally leave it set up at home, and then pack it into the carry case for trips. It packs down in about 4 minutes. The only issues I have experienced is it blowing over when set up full-sized outside with a backdrop. This is not a flaw of the backdrop stand, but simply a fact that wind will blow anything 10' wide and 10' tall over. Just be cognoscente of this possibility, and use this outside with caution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price. Just got this and used it a few times. Very easy to set up. Managed to set it up with a roll of 107 wide by myself in only a few minutes. It is pretty sturdy. Only thing I didn't like is the bottom screw to make sure it does not slide down goes into a plastic piece. I tightened that screw too much and snapped the platic bit in half, but solved the problem by slide a bit of card board in it's place. Even with that little accident I find it to be a well built item. The price can't be beat either. ...
