What is the diameter of the threaded hole in stand?
The thread size at the top of the mic stand shaft (where you would attach the mic) is 5/8"-27. The thread size on the round weighted stand base should be 7/8"-27.

The mid-point clutch locking mechanism isn't holding tight. I'm not sure that the three parts that make up the mechanism are in the right order at the threaded connection. what order should these parts be in?
The bushing under the hand screw that sits on the post needs to be oriented correctly. Try turning it the other way.
