I had almost 1,000 slides from the 1950s and needed a good, safe, and compact way to store them. Bought two of these boxes and they were perfect. The small "folders" that hold 25 slides each were easy to assemble. Be aware that even when filled, the small boxes do not 100% fill the larger box so I added some small Styrofoam blocks or wadded up some acid free paper to keep them from moving (see image). The space is good for extracting the little folders but not ideal if the boxes will be moving around or being shipped.
Unlike some of the long archival slide boxes I've purchased in the past, into which 8 bins fit snugly, with this box, no matter how you orient the bins, there is so much wasted space that the bins will move about in the box if transported.� I didn't even check to see if they all fit or if the slides dumped out when moved because I was so annoyed at the certainty that these bins will not stay in place.� It’s hard to understand why this size box was paired up with these bins.� I’ll use the bins in a long box and I’ll this box for something else, unless I just stomp on it out of irritation. :) Disappointing.
