Pana-Vue FPA005 reviews

6566 Automatic Slide Viewer is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great GAF unit from the late 70's Yep that's right, it was first put out by GAF in the late 70's to early 80's. So for any one that says it's not durable, i've had this unit in use for 30 years. It's plastic so it's handled with some tlc. It's not used every day, but it is used. The only con to this unit is that it's not easy to remove dust from the inside, but i use a 6 cotten-tipped medical applicator that i ask my doctor for. I'm sure he finds a way to bill me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works great I have eight years of old slides to go through so I can tell a story and put it on a disk and give each of my daughters a gift of rememberence . I have the old projector but cannot find the electric cord . The #6566 auto.slide viewer by Pana Vue will help these old eyes to complete a task that I have wanted to do for a long time . My husband who was an camera buff will be happy that his hard work will be preserved . He bought his camera stuff at your store on the westside of Manhattan . I didn't want to spend a lot of money for it . But it is a piece of camera equipement I am familiar with . Anna M. Wanamaker

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a nice enough job for the price Had over 1,500 slides to review to decide which ones to digitize. This helped a LOT and it's semi-automatic and once you get the hang of it, it works very nicely. Certainly consider the power adapter if you have a lot of slides to review. Purchased the additional bulb just in case. Would definitely recommend this. It does jam once in a while but you can easily unjam it. Just have to have a little patience. That is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Generally a good product I bought this viewer to cull a few thousand slides before scanning them. It's manually operated, takes a stack of input slides and stacks on the output side. One manually moves a handle in and out to transport the slides in to out while stopping at the viewing lens. The image is bright and fairly sharp and large enough most times. The feeding mechanism isn't perfect. The input side sometimes feeds 2 slides or otherwise gets a bit jammed up, but repeatedly moving the handle clears things without damaging the slides or the viewer. The output side is pretty finicky about stacking. I often have to push the slides into stacked position every few slides. Even with these caveats, it's much better than loading slides one at a time into a single-slide viewer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment Product claims to be automatic but I cannot see anything automatic about it. There's not even an on/off switch for the lamp. You plug it in the wall/unit to light it and unplug to shut it off. You're supposed to be able to load up to 36 slides in it and (by hand) push an old slide out and a new one into the light. My slides jam, don't move through, and I have to insert one at a time for best results. Absolutely not worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed I needed a slide viewer to sort through about 5000 historical slides. This, combined with the AC adapter, was a lifesaver. The only negative about the unit is that warped slides (of which there were many in the historical cardboard-mounted slides from the 1950s-60s) often get stuck in the viewer and require some effort to get them out. So be sure to try to straighten them before feeding them into the unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You need this slide viewer My husband and I are happy with this slide viewer. It is small and easy to store. It serves it's purpose well. Easy to use. We looked at 600 of our slides we have had for 50 years and got them ready to put on a DVD. This viewer helped us get the job done.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good viewer for the money Able to look at slides quickly. The auto feeder, which works by hand, does jam occasionally. But overall, it gets the job done and is better than simply using a lightbox.
