I see the older reviews of this product differ significantly from the latest review... I'm wondering if changes have been made in this product recently that have corrected the issues. Does anyone know?
I have not seen any information that they changed the washer.
But like many companies, changes are made all the time without any notification.

Can this be used for resin-coated prints as well as fibre based?
This washer is meant to accommodate the more through washing needs of fiber paper. We see no issue if you wish to also use it for easier to wash resin.

Which hose do you connect to which tube on the ...
Which hose do you connect to which tube on the washer, and how do you secure the input line to a kitchen sink?
The input hose (from the faucet) is connected to the agitation valve system, and the drain hose is connected to the simple tube.
