Hosa Technology DIB-443 Overview

The DIB-443 "SIDEKICK" from Hosa is a passive direct injection transformer that changes guitar or bass signal to a low-impedance signal appropriate for sending down the snake to the house (or studio) mixing console's XLR inputs.

An "INST/SPKR" switch, when placed in the SPKR position allows an amplifier's extension speaker output to drive the line, thus preserving the original amp sound. A Ground Lift switch breaks ground to help trouble-shoot and terminate 60Hz "ground-loop" hum.

Since the DIB-443 is a passive device, no powering is required.

Allows for connecting a electric guitar or bass directly into a mixer without losing tone due to impedance mismatch, long cables or cycle hum
Converts any unbalanced line-level signal to balanced mic-level output
Ground lift switch prevents ground-loop hum
Ultra-compact, all-metal and road suitable housing

All Pros in my book. Low noise, simple rugged design that can be tossed around, sturdy connections for your cables. I would definitely recommend it!

I plan to purchase more of these

Anything the other way round? I need something affordable with Low-Z input and Hi-Z output - the opposite of this device.

Perhaps you can use the Hosa Technology Impedance Transformer XLR Female Mic Lo-Z to Instrument 1/4" Male Hi-Z (B&H # HOMIT43) or Audix T50K Impedance-Matching Transformer (B&H # AUT50K) if you can work with an XLR Low-Z input.

question

Does it send signal out of both outputs simultaneously (like a splitter)?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it does. When splitting, you will lose a bit of the treble, but it's not a huge difference. I use it in that regime--sending two signals out of it to different gear. Let me know if you want to know more. Good luck.
