The Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG contains three tubes of different length - 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm - which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification. Actual magnification effect changes with each specific lens.

Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.

The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens father away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.

This DG Extension tube set has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLR's and some of the digital SLR lenses.
When using the camera's TTL metering system, no exposure compensation is required (exposure compensation is required for handheld meters).
Retains AF function when effective aperture stays at f/5.6 or brighter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extention tubes for Sony A55 These are not quite up to the feel of major mfg's. equipment, but I have had good luck using them when shooting macro on my photo bench. I would recommend them for this type of work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive Macro Like many beginning photographers, I was (and still am)unable to afford an expensive macro lens, so I purchasedthis Kenko set of extension tubes. As advertised, they can turn just about any lens into amacro lens, at much less of a cost than buying a separatemacro lens. When you place the extension tube(s) between the camera bodyand the regular lens, the effect is amazing. First, itgreatly reduces the maximum focus distance -- you can nolonger focus on objects far away. At the same time, it alsoreduces the minimum focus distance -- you can focus onobjects much closer than before.Secondly, the depth-of-field because markedly narrower, requiring a stopping down of the lens (higher f-number) inmost cases. The only real down-side to this is that you almost alwayshave to use a tripod because of longer exposure times, andauto-focus rarely works. Expertise: Semi-professional photojournalist Problems Encountered: I had hoped to use auto-focus with these tubes installed, but I can't (on Canon dSLRs). Most shots require a tinyaperture (high f-number), which forces a slower shutterspeed, making the use of a tripod almost always necessary.Occasionally, I've been able to use them hand-held and withAF, but only in bright sunlight with a very fast (wideaperture) lens. Items I Recommend: Any prime lens 50mm or longer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says, no hype here! I have been using these for about 10 days now and the results have been MORE than I expected. The tubes work perfectly with my Sony A700, it focuses on the subject as though the tube was not even there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A whole new world out there. I'm able to photograph things I could only imagine or do huge blowups to get.The limited depth of field lets me really show off my subject.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent....... excellent results are sure with this product.........no need to spent on expensive macro lenses when this alternative is available..........d only problem or could be said the difficult part is to focus with these rings.......even though they are auto focus.........but if you have a tripod you can get the expected results
