    Nikon MB-D200 reviews

    MB-D200 Multi-Power Battery Pack is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never leave home without one I can shoot portraits all day long and when I'm in the field shooting landscapes it's a couple of days before I even think about battery life. The pack fits onto the D200 like a glove and you will like the shutter release button and the command dials when holding your camera in a vertical position. When shooting in the regular (horizontal) position you won't even know there is another shutter button or dials on the lower bottom right, your hand just fits comfortably on the grip. The overall unit is strong, easy to install and to me when hand holding stabilizes the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MB-D200 in the Wilderness Over the last 2 years I have taken the MB-D200 on several trips ranging from 7-14 days. With 2 charged batteries I have never run out of juice taking as many images as I want in places such as Pictured Rocks, Mi and Collegiate Peaks, Co. The vertical grip and shutter release makes switching from landscape to portrait seamless. The little white tabs that secure the batteries broke off on my first MB-D200 - but closing the battery door rendered this a moot point. Attaching to the camera is quick and easy and the tripod mount on the bottom functions flawlessly and is rugged enough to handle the rigors of constantly attaching and detaching a tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extends shooting times I usually use the battery pack for vacations (often shooting 1000's of pix). On a recent vacation I found that I had to charge the original battery every other day, & sometimes finding myself low on fuel . My D200 seems to drink the juice up, & occasionally had to curtail my shooting to make sure I didn't run the battery dry (you never know what you're gonna see at the last minute) The MD D200 has relieved that problem considerably. What I like: lots of power available for shooting & the on-camera flash. Relatively light-weight. Shutter release on the vertical side. What I don't like: huge in a big sort of way.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to use - makes vertical shooting much easier I use the MB-D200 100% of the time with the D200 and use itprimarily for the ability to easily hold the cameravertically and release the shutter. I get 2000 plus shotsper battery so the extra battery is never really used. Problems Encountered: The battery retaining clips self-destructed after 9 monthsand with two batteries the compartment door does not stayclosed so I am no longer using the unit. For me the value in using Nikon equipment have been itsperformance and durability. The MB-2D00 has been adisappointment in this regard. Previous Equivalent Items Owned: None Items I Recommend: NA

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty much what I was expecting It doesn't feel as sturdy as the rest of the camera, but otherwise is well made. My only real complaint is that the af-on button is not as conveniently placed as the one on the normal camera body, so that takes some getting used to. Other things to note: It's noticeably thicker to wrap your hand around than the normal camera grip, but that doesn't really bother me. Also, it significantly adds to the bulk of the camera, and makes it noticeably more unwieldy. It doesn't sit on a surface very well, and hangs differently from the strap.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad product from Nikon. First the little clips that holds the battery broke off, then the latch to the battery compartment broke. For the cost of equipment I did not like it. The really bad thing is that you can not get it fixed. I have been a Nikon fan for 35 years this was not worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great add-on...has some quirks I use the MB-D200 all the time, shooting sports, portraits, and weddings. It makes shooting in the portrait aspect easier with the shutter release on the grip. Also makes it easier to hand-hold because of the extra area it provides to grip(I have big hands). The only draw backs that I have had dealt with are that the latch on the door isn't large enough and breaks easily and the clips that hold the batteries in place are easily broken also....I had my 1st one for 2yrs before either broke, but immediately ordered a replacement!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flimsy parts provides for short term use. For the first few months I owned this, I loved the batteryback. It takes juice from the batteries one at a time, soafter a day of work I might only have to recharge one of thebatteries. It also provides a shutter release button on theside that facilitates easier vertical shooting. The problemwith this item is that there are 2 flimsy little white tabsthat hold the batteries in place within the unit. Afterusing this outdoors for several months, the tabs becamebrittle and broke right off. I can still use this, butbasically have to force the door closed and twist the latchclosed. Upon opening it, the 2 batteries simultaneously comeflying out at me. Not what I expected for $170. Problems Encountered: See the complaints within my review.
