    K-Tek KEG-150CCR reviews

KEG-150CCR Avalon Series Graphite Boompole with Internal Coiled XLR Cable is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really makes a difference Prior to purchasing the K-Tek boompole, I had an older aluminium boompole which required the audio cable to be affixed to the side of the boom. It worked, but it took a bit of time to setup and whenever the pole had to be extended it took even more time to adjust the cabling. I decided to spend the extra cash and buy the K-tek 150ccr with the internal cable. What a difference! No more cable management problems, plus it's lightweight to boot. I love it! Some might complain about the internal cable moving around inside the housing, but I easily learned how to manage that. It was never a problem when using the 150ccr on set. Get one! You won't regret it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality, Affordable, Lightweight I absolutely love this boom. It's lightweight, ultra high quality, strong, comfortable to use, and reasonably priced. As soon as I'd used it on one take, it became my primary go-to pole, and I haven't looked back since. The Neutrik connectors on both ends of the pole are also worth mentioning, as they are truly superb. Plugging and unplugging to change setups between takes is markedly easier and faster than with my previous pole. It's a small thing, but it makes a noticeable difference in the overall stress level during a shoot. All that said, this pole does have a few minor quirks, which can take some getting used to: First, the internal coiled cable (like ALL internal coiled cables) does slap against the inside of the pole if you shake it. So, don't shake it while recording (duh). Second, if you're used to a smooth-finished carbon fiber pole (like I was), the satin finish on this graphite pole can throw you for a bit of a loop at first, when it comes to avoiding handling-noise. I found this to be a little bit challenging on the first day of use. However, by the second day, my hands had adapted, and the problem completely went away. It's hard to explain with words what to do differently in your handling technique. Just trust your body to figure it out, and it will. Once you get the the right feel for the material, it works just great. In closing, I'd like to mention that K-Tek has impressed me as a fantastic company, who makes wonderful products. Before purchasing, I called them directly (twice), and asked a lot of questions. They were very responsive, happy to talk to me, and obviously proud of their products. I found the whole experience very refreshing in today's so often impersonal business world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from K Tek Graphic Saves The Day I'm amazed that people still get excited when the see a carbon boom. I just finished a two day concert with a string quartet and the K tek booms were the hit of the crew.
