  • 1Description

The Tiffen 58mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens. Its Water White glass construction is optically pure and maintains consistent light transmission and clarity.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Clear filter offers general protection for your lens against the elements.
Water White glass is optically pure for providing notable image fidelity and clarity.

    Tiffen W58DIGULTCLR reviews

58mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from pretty much does what it says I really like this filter for the price! Originally I went with ProMaster which was a huge waste of money. Keep in mind this is a clear piece of glass not a UV or multicoated filter. It's primary purpose is to do nothing except protect your front lens element. Given the way I shoot in dusty, humid, rainy and generally unfavorable weather it's exactly what I need. Yes it does add a bit o' flare when aimed at a light source, but that's not an issue for me because if I'm shooting with flare then I'm doing it on purpose. I would recommend the HT from Tiffen if you're worried about flare. The best thing about this is that it does nothing to my image which is what I want :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my lens clean Got this on all my lenses. it replaced some my UV filters due to the fact that i found my focus tending to focus on the background more with my other filters that have a slight tint to them (UV, polarizers, etc you cant really say anything bad about them. they are just to keep my lens clean and not scratched. i noticed one of them while i was in about 100-105 degrees weather, that it a slight film came up and made my autofocus off. but i cleaned it and it solved the problem. so ya, nothin bad really. i guess when i drop my lens glass first onto something pointed then i will find out how nice it really works

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't leave home without it You never know what airborne threats are there that can damage your lens, so protection is always necessary. My equipment needs it all the time, and I keep it there. I have noticed that it doesn't interfere with the composition at all, and the filter was actually very helpful when I shot near the ocean with water spray hitting the filter while not getting anywhere near the lens. I can't say that there is anything I don't like about this filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works just fine for a while I was running around with no filters for my kit lenses, and these add a piece of mind. I haven't noticed any image quality reduction which was my main concern. I will admit I haven't taken these in a lot of situations since purchasing them, but I will edit my review if that changes. I cannot see the justification for spending $ + on a clear filter if there is no distinguishable difference in image quality. These are a good price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good filter I bought this filter mainly as protection against dust, dirt and moisture for my Pentax 28-80 mm lens. I haven't had the filter for very long but so far it's doing the job very well. I especially like the fact that the filter is threaded on the inside so that I can keep a screw-on rubber lens hood on the lens as well. I suppose you could also stack other filters on top of it if you needed to. It seems to be well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You won't be Sorry I put one of these Tiffen Ultra Clear Water White Filters on every lens I own. I'd go with this even before a UV filter. Why? For me, its only function is to keep the front optic on my lenses from getting scratched. I can stack whatever else I want to use on top of it but the Ultra Clear never comes off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great inexpensive lens protector This inexpensive Ultra Clear filter is a great when you know you'll be replacing it soon because you're going to treat it rough. Mine came with some extremely light hazing that was easily removed with a lens tissue. Looks to actually be Ultra Clear once cleaned properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Filter I bought this filter to basically protect my new camera lens. It was easy to install and works great - I haven't noticed any difference/distortion of picture quality or clarity. Definitely recommend as this is much easier/cheaper to replace than a scratched lens.
