Canon Semi-Gloss: I Love This Paper!

I shoot and print a lot of corporate group photos. Over the years I tried different brands and surfaces of papers. I always used some brand of glossy but one day out of necessity I tried the Canon semi-gloss. I use Canon printers. The built-in Canon profiles work really well and the colors match my calibrated monitor perfectly and the semigloss surface give a nice sheen to the photos vs. the glossy which is too reflective for my purposes. And, for people pictures, it's great! It makes my job so much easier. This is now my go to paper.

Neutral B&W rendering is good for my purpose

I print old B&W images for a historical society, and considering they are for display and illustration purposes only (not competition), this paper works perfectly for me. The semi-gloss finish doesn't reflect as badly as the Canon glossy paper, but still has a shine to it versus their matte finished paper. But then in bulk it's less expensive and Canon doesn't make their matte paper in an 8x10 size.

This is a nice paper. This pack was delivered with extra protection on the corners of the package. No bent corners to straighten out this time. Thanks B&H!

question

Can I use this with my Selphy CP910?
Asked by: Kim P.
No you can not. The Selphy is a dye sublimation printer and is only compatible with dye sublimation paper. The ink ribbon and paper are only sold together. You are not able to purchase each separately.

question

We just bought a Canon iX6520 printer. It will auto-duplex sheets of paper. It appears to handle paper of this size (SG-201).Can we print on both sides of this paper?Or is the semi-gloss finish on one side only?If not this paper, can you recommend another paper that is at least tabloid-extra size (12x18) that will provide photo or near-photo quality, and that can be duplexed? We want to create books from these printed pages, so need printing on both sides.Thank you,Josh Litwin

The SG-201 Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss 13 x 19 is a single-sided paper, so you can only print on one side. We do carry this double-sided semi-gloss paper from Inkpress Media Duo Semi Gloss (2-Sided, 180gsm) - 13x19 (Super-B) - 50 Sheets (INSG1319509M).

I've had issues with this paper curling as soon as it's removed from the box. This is causing the print heads to strike the paper. The directions that came with the paper recommend: if the paper curls, straighten it. Not a lot of help. How do your straighten this paper?
Asked by: David
It depends how the paper is stored and for how long. It is recommended that you store your paper flat. You can purchase a paper decurler, but we don't sell them. Engineers have taught me a trick, if the paper is not too long, and your microwave large enough the paper can be slightly wound up, and put in the microwave on low ONLY for 10-15 seconds and this may relax and refresh the chemical compounds in the paper.
