Canon 1686B064 reviews

SG-201 Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss (13 x 19", 50 Sheets) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 422.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Paper Option - There May Be Better But It Works For Us I'll be honest and start by saying that we like this paper when used with the canon printer we bought from B&H. I think in some reviews the Luster paper was highly recommended and we have yet to try that, so frankly there may be better paper options out there than this Semi-Gloss but so far, the prints we've gotten with it have been very good. Color, contrast, and details all appear to be just fine and really there's not much to complain about. I think like many things, if you can test out different types of paper and find what you like the best, that's probably a good idea, but this paper should work well for many people.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Results This paper came with a new Canon Pixma PRO-100. I like the results I get a lot. I'm fairly new to serious printing, and believe I will improve with practice, but even the initial results are very good compared to previous efforts, especially black and white. Paper finish is semi-glosss and exactly as I expected - half-way between glossy and matte. I think it is a very good balance between reducing glare and still providing detail and contrast. The only reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the paper is fairly thin and therefore must be handled carefully to avoid accidental creases. I have had prints made with thicker paper and prefer it for ease of handling, but considering the cost this is a very good paper indeed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good I got this paper for free with my Canon Pixma Pro 10 so along with the five 8.5x11 luster sheets that come with the printer I have not had much experience with other Canon photo papers. That being said I do have a bit of experience with photo papers (mostly Epson) and this paper gave me results that stand up to other papers. I would describe it as a mix between glossy and mat with a slight hint of a luster look (very slight). This paper is great overall and will give you some great final prints but it is also a good starting point for drafts and helping you decide if you want to use another paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looking paper for general photographic use. This paper works very well with my Canon Pro 100 printer. It's surface lends itself well to just about any subject. If you are going to keep on hand only one paper in this size this is a good choice. It's color is very neutral and it is glossy but fairly glare resistant. FWIW I have left a print on this paper in my truck for about three weeks now in the heat of South Georgia just to see what effect it would have on the print. To date there has been no deformation of the paper. It just lays flat, and there has been no discernable change in the print or the color of the paper. It holds up well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! That gives you large awesome prints on the Canon Pixma PRO-100. Much bigger and awesome print quality than I though or ever did at home. This paper being semi gloss is a good all purpose. I have been very happy with it for all types of photos like night cityscapes, landscapes, black & white etc. I find the rendition beautiful and the ink seems to dry pretty fast. I tested a cheap paper instead and it clearly is more muddy, yellowish and not as sharp. Granted you need a side by side comparison to see the difference, but it;s good to know you push your images to the best they can be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs a bit of light to see clearly Pictures quality was great. Though I did have to place a light on them in order to view them clearly. Something I haven't had to do with my glossy photos. But that is the price of semi-gloss so no lost of starts there. My only real con dealt with finding the back. I had a hard time telling which side was which. Would have been nice if canon had wrote something on the back to indicate which side to place the paper into the printer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes nice images! I obtained this paper to do some substantial printing for an upcoming show. My usual paper for exhibition is Ilford Gallerie Gold fiber Silk but had run through a box of this previously and was pleased with the images. The black and white prints have a good tonal range and clarity but the paper is a bit thinner than the Ilford, but with careful handling you are only looking at the surface. The image quality is good and the value excellent. I like that Canon prints their logo on the back as it prevents confusion of the printable side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic pro-quality printer I picked this up initially because of the special deals available through B&H and Canon which made it very affordable. My initial results with it are astounding. Even without any spectral calibration, the printer does a wonderful job of reproducing the images I have on my screen. Setup was easy, although I did have to download newer versions of the software to get it to work with the latest version of Apple OS, Lightroom and Photoshop. I made test prints of a color portrait out of a Nikon D800 from Lightroom, and was very pleased. Then I printed a landscape B&W image from inside PS and was simply blown away with the gradations reproducible with this printer. Just can't praise it enough. Of course, like all printers, the ink will get you, but that's the way it goes.
