Fujinon Polaris 10x50 Reviews

World class binoculars

Bought these from B&H. Customer service and shipping time were excellent. Very good experience and will deal with again. As for the binoculars, the Fujinon FMTR-SX 10x50 has proved to be a serious instrument for day or nighttime use. My first night out with them is etched in my memory for life. I planned to watch a 2022 summer full moon rise by the lake. I timed it perfectly. Conditions were clear that night. Minutes before the rise, I could see the black horizon turn a ghostly Halloweenish dark orange which intensified slowly. The water movement in the distance looked like diamonds in motion; so clear and crisp and accurate that it was a sight to behold in and of itself. The optics have a world class level of clarity to them even in low light conditions. The moon looked larger than life through the atmospheric distortion, yet the image showed clarity of that distortion which is hard to describe. The edges of the moon on the horizon were bending up at the edges as opposed to it being a flat bottomed semicircle. The effect was stunning. The color was so vibrant and liquid. The tech that went into the 10x50's is very apparent once I witnessed the event and such a joy to witness. As the moon became brighter, chromatic aberration was not noticeable. Halos and ghosting extremely well controlled when panning away from the full moon brightness. Clarity and contrast an easy 10/10. Best flat field of view I've ever seen in binoculars. I suspect that these may be the best performers in the FMTR-SX lineup, having experienced the 16x70's already in the past. Exceptional quality feel and performance. Truly a high end binocular experience that will leave anyone speechless.

Compared my 10x50 FMTR-SX to the Zeiss Victory FL 10x56

For one third the price of the Zeiss, the Zeiss owner and I agreed that the only slightly noticeable differences were: 1. Zeiss has slightly better resistance to stray light at night. 2. Zeiss had slightly better color rendition at night. Daytime viewing differences were negligible- both outstanding. The Fujis are an absolute winner at their price point and very, very close to the big Zeiss Victory FL. No differences in the quality of construction- both are built like tanks.

What are people using for a tripod mount? I do not see mention of a 1/4-20 thread mount on the binoculars.
Asked by: Jim
The mounting screw is in between the two binocular tubes. You will see a small plastic cap covering the mounting screw looking from the objective end. Then you can use the Nikon Binocular Tripod Adapter that can be found on the B&H website by using the part number B&H # NIMATA.

My concern is that even though they are fog and waterproof optics blowing sand may get into the focusing mechanism.
