The ATM450 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone from Audio-Technica is designed with a side-address capsule, allowing for easy placement and flexible positioning on percussion, guitar cabinets, piano, and similar applications. The cardioid polar pattern is effective in reducing off-axis noise and feedback, and the wide frequency response results in rich, natural detail. There is a low frequency roll-off switch for reducing low frequency ambiance and noise and a -10 dB Pad switch for providing additional headroom and minimizing noise caused by transient peaks. The package includes an isolation clamp, an adapter, a windscreen, and a soft protective pouch.

question

what applications are best for this mic?
Asked by: Anonymous
I have 24 of these microphones that I use to mic an orchestra that tours with a trio of tenors singing with it. The side address makes micing the strings super easy as with all of the other instruments. Violins, violas, cello, and bass are all wonderful sounding and the look with the side address mics is a lot cleaner than a regular front address mic. I put away all of the 184s and now use the ATM450 with exceptional results.
