    Sony SAL20TC reviews

2.0x Teleconverter is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sharp Pics (MF) But Not Communicating with Camera I have a Sony a7rii and Sony 500mm f/4 SSM G + LAEA3 adapter that work great together. However, I just added this Sony 2x Teleconverter. I can take really sharp pictures with the 2x combo (manual focus as expected), but the aperture information is not being reported to the camera. In the viewfinder I see F--, and when I move the aperture thumb wheel, the F-- changes from white to orange. When I bring the pics into Lightroom, I can see shutter speed and ISO data but no aperture or lens data. Has anyone seen this before? Do I have defective teleconverter ... am I missing a setting somewhere ... or is this a known issue? Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUST HAVE This review is very short and to the point. even though this converter is pricey, it's still cheaper then buying a new lens to carry around. Now the only real con is you loose auto focus on most lens. I have it for my a77 sony 70-400mm lens. I have found that i prefer to use manual forces when i shooting at the end of my focal length. After talking pics of the Full Moon at 800mm there is no way i can say anything bad about this converter. everyone needs to practice auto focus there will be several times when its the only why to get the perfect pic no matter what setup you have. so do yourself and get this converter. it will not affect you image quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Sony SAL 2X teleconverter Super If you own the Sony 70-200 SSM and want to extend the range by a factor of two, you need this teleconverter. Although not cheap by any means, it is a superb optical instrument and perfectly matched for the SSM. The only downside is the cost. But the results speak for themselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product The Sony 2x converter works very well with my Minolta 200mm 2.8 HS APO G lens on the A900. Wide open at f/5.6 the pictures are full of detail already but with very low contrast. Stop down slightly to f/6.3 will regain the contrast. At that setting it would match the optical performance of my Sigma 400mm 5.6 TELE-MACRO APO, and clearly better than the Tokina 400mm 5.6 SD and Minolta 100-400mm 4.5-6.7 APO. The teleconverter does slow down the AF a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very clear optics. I use this converter with the Sony G series lenses and find that they are superior to all the other brands that I have used. A home run...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beyond expectations For use with wildlife. Allows me to get closer to my subject, than my 200mm. Clear sharp results. Very easy to use. Machined beautifully.
