    Netgear GS105 reviews

ProSafe 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid & Works I use this by my desktop computer. Cat5e cable comes in from downstairs (router) and plugs into this gigabit switch. A short Cat6 cable goes to the desktop computer. Another short Cat6 cable stays close by to plug into either my laptop or notebook computers when I need them. Rubber pads on the bottom will keep it from moving around on top of a desk; however, I mounted it vertically on a wood shelf with the ports facing down with the included 2 screws. The cord on the included AC adapter was plenty long for my needs. The centerline distance between the holes in the back of the switch are 1-13/16 -- not 1-3/4 or 2. I don't know what led Netgear to pick what I would call a kind of non-standard dimension; it's much easier to pick off more common dimensions on a ruler than 1-13/16 when trying to install the switch. But overall it is a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It just works! You just can't beat this little guy! I was looking for a very reliable gigabit switch that was also affordable... usually you can't even say that in the same sentence but you actually get both with this product. Netgear definitely sets a standard with this little switch. Did I mention how little it is also? great product, no bells and whistles... just flat out works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Hardware for Basic Switch Applications I needed a GS105Ev2, which is a lot more switch than this GS105. However, I had a GS105E in a very non-demanding application, so I replaced it with this 105, and re-purposed the 105E. The GS105 allows Ethernet devices to communicate at 10/100/1000 Mbps. Best I can tell, it does not provide VLAN separation of sub-nets. It was simple to install, immediately went to work with no configuration or programming. I expect it to be as reliable as my other NetGear products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size and Fast We rent high end networkable video equipment. We have one of these units in almost everyone of our racks, or the larger version. Being a Gigabit unit it accommodates all of our equipment. We've never had one fail, and that is all the really matters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Netgear ProSafe GS-105 5-Port Gigabit Sw It just plain works; what else needs to be said? The ports are located at the front of the unit; some, like me, may prefer them at the back. Be sure to connect all the Ethernet cables before connecting the power cord to the electrical outlet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXACTLY what I needed Used as a switch to split my network coming out of the wall to multiple devices. Was super easy to install and set up. Seemed compact and well built, and just worked. Had zero problems. Great great great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid and inexpensive gigabit switch I use this switches both at home and in the office and they seem to be serving fine. Have not had any problems, the speed is good and no faulty devices (I am using 3 so far plus 2x8-port)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works When Others Won't I bought this small switch for a critical portable application. I had tried other brands with similar specs but Netgear just works more reliably.
