Pelican Divider Set for 1630 Overview

The Pelican 1635 Divider Set is a replacement for divider set provided with the Pelican 1630 transport cases. It consists of two trays and assorted padded, flexible touch fastener dividers with top load foam included.

Ballistic nylon padded and flexible divider set with touch fastener closure.
Mesh zipper cover on the top to keep contents in place.
Divider set consists of top tray with three (25"), 12 (4.0") flexible dividers and lower tray with two (25") and eight (5.5") flexible padded dividers.
One top lid foam section is included.

This comes as two separate trays, the bottom one is open and the top one has a zipper closure. The top tray sits on the bottom one in the case to keep items in it from shifting. The zipper seems relatively solid, but is probably less reliable than a velcro closure and with only one zipper it is a bit inconvenient to have to unzip the whole length just to get at some of the compartments. If you have a lot of smaller equipment to drop in a large pelican, this is a great way to keep things organized and safe. That said, there isn't a lot of flexibility in the size of the sections. The bottom compartment won't easily fit anything taller than about six inches, and the top container about five inches. If you have equipment with a minimum dimension larger than this, you're going to have to do some hacking. This is a much cheaper solution than a custom foam insert but you give up a lot of flexibility. If you change the contents of what you carry on a fairly frequent basis this is a better option since you can reconfigure the velcro dividers quite easily.

Typical Pelican quality but....

This divider set is the usual high quality anyone comes to expect from Pelican. The only issue (for me, anyway) is that I intended to place some very large items in this particularly deep case. This divider set is actually TWO dividers, one sits on top of the other with a bottom layer. So no items deeper than 1/2 the depth of the case can go in any one divider partition, and there's no way to really only use the bottom one for tall objects. While this would be great if you have lots and lots of small items to organize, if your intention is a big item like a large light fixture or ballast, you're better off with the foam insert you can customize. On a case this size, the foam pluck and pull is in much larger sections than the smaller Pelican cases, so the resilience and durability will last longer for bigger and heavier items.
