Walkstool Comfort 45 L overview

  • 1Description

Walkstool is a unique company making an even more unique and extremely useful product. The Walkstool Comfort 45 L is born of fine Swedish engineering and provides a portable posterior platform - in other words, a seat for all occasions. Whereas a folding chair or stool is nothing new, this Walkstool's clever design makes it stand out from the rest. The two primary issues Walkstool's designers focused on were compact size and load strength and the final product reflects their careful engineering and dedication.

The primary benefit of the Walkstool is the prevention of back strain or fatigue while keeping a person elevated to a comfortable height. This is useful for sports, event, and press photographers who spend many hours on their feet, squatting or on their knees. It is also good for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone who needs a seat in a location where a comfortable chair may be hard to come by.

The Walkstool Comfort line features lightweight and ultra-portable stools with two height positions depending on whether the telescoping legs are extended or not. Transportation of these sub-two lbs stools is a breeze, as it collapses into a compact form that can be easily carried in a camera bag, backpack, or tool bag to be taken just about anywhere. The Comfort line improves on the Basic line with a larger seat, different size seat mesh material, and larger rubber feet to prevent the stool legs from getting stuck in the mud.

Will hold up to 440 lbs
When folded, it is not much larger than a small tripod

    Walkstool Comfort 45 L reviews

Comfort 45 Large Folding Stool is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stability, well made This is a sturdy lit’l stool nicely capable of folding up to a tidy size that straps onto my camera bag. Small enough that it’ll fit into my bag when not chock-o-block full... i’ll use this for camping and work, also purchased the add-on feet-strap base that spans between the feet to prevent too much dig-in when on soft environments... The company is one of those creative types, that’s utilized good high quality, correct, light-weight material. Their website is clean, with spare parts are available including seat, center piece, spring and feet. (which is exceptional) i will use this little tool, and see how she wears in time. overall first impression is good value for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great help! I have a serious disease that limits my ability to walk. I've been shooting for decades and was quite bummed when I could no longer go on a one day shooting walkabout. Two things have helped greatly. The first is a fat tire Ebike that lets me hit trails and ride without too much duress. The second is this great stool. It's so comfortable, lightweight and sturdy. I can open it in seconds and sit down to compose the shot. For me this thing is a life changer. It saves enough of my strength to let me keep going for hours longer. It'll be with me on every outdoor shoot. I highly recommend this product for anyone with health issues that restrict their photographic practices and also for anyone who simply wants a great portable stool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong, light, compact, and comfortable I weigh 400 pounds, exactly. If this thing could hold my weight, I was sure it would be uncomfortable. Happily, I was wrong on both accounts. I wanted something to sit behind a small tripod for both nature photography, and impromptu video interviews in coffee shops, but I use it everywhere. It's light and the bag has a strap attached to it. When I pull the stool out, I just sling the empty bag back over my shoulder until I'm ready to go. The bag rolls up into a small hand sized bundle so you could just a easily put it in your coat or pants pocket, as well. The only thing that might be a problem is if your hip bones are landing directly on the top end of the two back legs. I moved forward and the problem was solved, but you might want to bring a thin pad or fold your jacket up underneath yourself if it's a problem. Otherwise I can't think of a way that anyone would be unhappy with this purchase. Another thing you might want to check before you decide which one to get... I actually ordered the smaller model (the 18 Large) by accident, but was pleasantly surprised to discover that if I'd ordered the next size up, I would have been sorry. After I got it, I measured from my hardwood floor to the inside crease on the back of my knee it was exactly 18. My legs are short so I'm glad this accident happened, otherwise I would have had to send it back. Hope this helps someone in making up their mind, all of the comments people make sure do help me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential Photo Support Gear As several others have pointed out, the knees get weaker as we all get older. I measured my chair seat height, but against the notations of others here, I went with the 22 inch height vs. the 18 inch height, thus putting my hips a bit above my knees, which makes it easier to stand. But I also purchased a second chair for a slightly shorter friend. Supports my weight well, and honestly, if you are 18 or much older, having a place to sit for long stretches beats standing for hours. I would rate this as an essential, mandatory piece of photo support equipment! And it's kind of fun to get envious looks from people left standing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Stable I'm 6.1' and struggled whether or not to get the 45 or 55 XL. So I got the 45 for my wife and the 55XL for me, knowing I would use the smaller 45 when she wasn't using it. You would think the 55XL is the one to use for my height. The 45 is closer to the ground and more stable, especially if the ground is not perfectly flat. The 45 makes my knees perfectly perpendicular to the ground, making it more stable and easier to sit for longer periods. The 55 sits me a little higher cutting the bottom of my thighs, putting more pressure on my private parts and tightens my pants in that area as well. The only benefit to being higher is to shoot from a sitting position. A workout bench is the height of the 45 (18) due to stability. A typical chair is the height of the 55 (22). With shoes on to the bottom of my top of my calf measures 19 making the 45 perfect for me. I would recommend you measure before buying. The stool is so light you don;t even know your carrying it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from comfort stool 45. it broke jsut sitting I never considered using the stool other than photography...after reading the booklet it made sense to use it a round the house, I am 67. The first time I used while sitting changing door handles and locks.......one of the legs separated from the center securing points, sending me to the floor. The stool was comfortable and I can see a need for it. I just got one with a quality concern. I will return this one and get another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the "Doctor" ordered Not sure there is anything more that I can say that already been written. With aging knees, arthritis, this folding stool is everything I could ask for. It's light weight, folds down and fits in my Mindshift camera pack outer pocket, has a very nice seat, and best of all holds up to 450 lbs (solid and well designed). I picked the model 45 based on it being about the same height as our dinning chairs, should be about right for photography work. Looking forward to take it out for the sunrise/sunset photo days knowing I have a place to set and wait in comfort.
