Celestron AstroMaster 90 AZ overview

  • 1Description

Designed as a capable and portable starter-scope, the Celestron AstroMaster 90AZ 90mm f/11.1 Refractor Telescope is a complete observational platform for making detailed observations of the Moon, planets, or comet-hunting. Its manual alt-azimuth mount's locking altitude clutch and adjustable pan-axis tension knob allows users to easily track objects using the locking pan handle with reduced vibrations. The entire rig assembles and breaks down without the need for tools, so users can set up fast and get observing sooner.

This version of the AstroMaster comes with two eyepieces that yield low and medium magnifications, and a 90° diagonal that sports an integrated erecting prism to correct images and allow the scope to be used as a conventional spotting scope for terrestrial use. The diagonal also places the user's head in a more comfortable position, especially when the OTA is pointed at or near the zenith. An adjustable-height stainless steel tripod supports the mount and optical tube, and comes with a center tray that conveniently holds accessories while improving stability and reducing vibrations.

    Celestron AstroMaster 90 AZ reviews

    AstroMaster 90AZ 90mm f/11.1 Refractor Telescope is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great introductory telescope This telescope is great for beginners. Not too expensive, but you can still see a fair amount of binary stars, and the rings of Saturn were distinguishable from the sphere of the planet. The star finder reticle is a bit tricky to use, but works well when you use the telescope itself to align left/right and the reticle for up/down. The mount is fairly stable, but is shaky when using the 10mm eyepiece and the wind blows. The tri-pod is of sturdy construction though. The assembly is relatively light, and can be easily carried by one person on one trip from the parking lot to the viewing field. B&H had the best price I could find, and here it comes with two eyepieces instead of just one. At the time when I ordered, they had free next day shipping, which was awesome. The red LED flashlight they sent along as a bonus is handy as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Bought it for my husband who has been bugging for one. Comparable products sold for over $200, and I found it cheapest on the whole interenet here at B&H.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Starter Scope I bought this for my husband's birthday. It is powerful enough for great views of the moon. Some planets are visible but not in detail. I also purchased the t-ring adaptor which allows me to attach my canon dslr to it. The tri-pod is a little wobbly which makes it hard to take crisp in focus pictures but overall we are happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Telescope This is the first Telescope I have ever used and I am very satisfied with it. I couldn't believe when I was able to see Jupiter with the 10mm Eyepiece. For a first time Telescope this is the one you need.
