Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl Reviews
Great for some images
I use this paper on an Epson SC-P800 with the Hahnemuhle supplied profile. Even using the profile, I had to adjust the paper thickness and platen settings to be sure the paper does not pick up ink on the leading edge. Black and white images, in particular, look great on this paper. I was somewhat disappointed that the shadow areas of some color images look significantly darker and less clear on this paper than on Epson Legacy Fibre (a matte paper). While I realize that the inherent characteristics of a gloss paper make shadows appear darker, in some images the difference between this paper and Legacy Fibre was much greater than I expected. Still, I am very pleased with the paper and find that it is a great alternative paper to the Epson Legacy Fibre, if a gloss finish is suitable for the image. The problem, of course, is that the only way to find out which paper to use for which image is experimentation. These are expensive products. You can waste quite a bit of money and paper making comparison prints.
Awesome Pearl Paper
This is one of the best performing papers that I have found. Test printing with the sample packs from Hahnemuhle this was my choice for a semi-gloss photo paper. Not too shiny and a very large color gamut and no OBA. I use the 8.5 x 11 for building profiles.
