Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid I've bought different kinds of these things over the years and I have to say I was worried about this one because of the reviews I read about it but I thought I would try it anyways. Contrary to some of the other reviews I think this mount is better that any other mount I've owned to date. It holds my Canon 600ex-rt lights very nicely and without worry. I've had them in pretty good winds with the umbrella attached and it held just fine. The metal construction is solid and it is everything I would expect out of a good mount.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product I used these to convert my RPS Studio light set to flash stands for my sb-800 Nikon flashes. They work GREAT. I only took off one star because they seem to short the pins on the nikon sb-800 if I wiggle the flash around - making the flash go off. (For the record, I couldnt get the flashes to fire when they were in remote mode). I solved this with a little piece of electrical tape - you cant see it and helps tighten the mount a bit too. The mount is made of metal and is strong and has hefty feel. It has teeth to set the angle and the knob is spring loaded, which is a nice touch. Its overall very well made, especially for the price. The base looks like it would fit a 1/2 diameter rod and fit my stands perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from There are better alternatives Its heavy duty, & good size. But I have two problems. 1- Not confident with its shoe mount 2- The knob that holds the umbrella stud is so small and its difficult to toghten. On many cases I found the umbrella slides when I swivel the bracket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from questionable shoe mount the metal build looks like it will outlast me. the problem i have with it is i own two canon 600 ex-rt flashes which are pretty heavy, they have a weather proof boot which makes it a little tough to seat it in all the way that is ok . the real problem i feel is that the shoe mount on the wescott does not surround the flash seat enough for me to feel confident to put a $500 flash on such a small amount of lip bucause even if you snug up the thumb screw there is not much support. In the pic I included look at the angles on the wescott.dont know if the 600 base plate is thicker than most other flashes, i thought that was fairly standard. so I use the included table top bracket supplied with the 600 screwed to the wescott 14/20 screw after removing the hot shoe adapator, an extra step but i feel more secure it will not come crashing to the ground if someone bumps into the light stand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WELL BUILT ADJUSTABLE MOUNT! This adjustable mount is very well built. I purchased 2 of these to use with my Westcott light stands and new Canon 600EX-RT flashes. I prefer to use the Canon mini stands attached to these mounts instead of the Westcott supplied shoe mounts. The weather resistant rubber boot on my Canon flashes are too thick for the flash lock to be used properly and that makes me a little nervous. With any other type flash or constant light, it would work just fine. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase of this adjustable shoe mount and highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot shoe not the tighest It is light and well built and great value in the Westcott Umbrella and stand kit. On the SB800 and SB900 it is not a solid hot shoe fit. When the flashes can slide in and out easily, the Nikon lock/ latch will not hold well. When in place tighten the hot shoe adjustment screw to make it secure. The Stroboframe adjustable hot shoe is a better fit for the hot shoe part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, metal construction I still have my original Manfrotto 026 swivel adapter, but much prefer these units for two primary reasons. First, they are much lighter (yet still metal construction). The light weight was a huge advantage since I now have four speedlites and thus carry around four of these. Second, I much prefer the umbrella shaft hole not being on an angle. Note: I still use the 026 since it is ultimately more versatile for some equipmemt; but for a dedicated speedlte mount, these are perfect for my needs. Note to 600EX-RT users: It is indeed the case where the rubber boot prevents one from locking in the flash. Since I always use my lights off-camera, I removed their rubber boots and it is much easier to mount plus you can then lock in the flash completely. It's a bit tricky to re-attach the boots though, so if you go between on- and off-camera flash often (and would like the weather-sealing when on-camera), that may be a hassle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does The Job I like this shoe mount adapter because it is small and feels like it is made to last (metal not plastic). Here's the problem with it: the flash doesn't seat well into the adapter. When I'm at a wedding and I quickly need to mount a Canon 600EX-RT onto the adapter quickly, it slows me down. Put a better flash adapter on it, and I'll give it 5 stars.
