Adjusts easily, fits my light stands well. Mostly metal so looks like they'll hold up nicely. Shipping was lightening fast!

Used to mount my Westcott Recessed Mega JS Apollo (50 x 50) to a Matthews Reverse Stand - 7' for a low profile lighting setup when shooting newborn photography.

Holds position with 51-inch umbrella. Good quality build.

Solid, lightweight, needs better knob

I wanted the lightest possible umbrella cold shoe, it is indeed light and sturdy. I replaced the knob for the umbrella though, the supplied knob was impossible to tighten easily.

It works as advertised.

I needed something to hold my speed light and an umbrella. This satisfies my need and it fits on my existing light stand. I've only used four or five times since I got it, but it seems to be fine, sturdy, quality.

Does not properly secure

The build quality feels good but it simply does not hold my speedlight properly. It does not get a good grip of the speedlight and the more I tighten it the more it pushes my speedlight out.

Can the hotshoe at the top be removed? If so what's under there? I hoping for a female thread that I can screw my light into.
Asked by: Brian
The hotshoe can be removed because it has a hole in it that screws on to a male thread on the bracket.

The cold shoe does come off and it is 1/4-20" male , if you need a female adapter you can use this ProMediaGear 1/4"-20 Female to 1/4"-20 Female Stud Converter BH #PRCSMPAS

Hi. Does this system damage the umbrella shaft? Its made of this sort of light metal which is hollow, and using the swivel ive noticed there are bumps inwards on the shaft once i remove it. How to avoid damaging the shaft while using these? Thanks!
Asked by: Anonymous
Try not to overtighten the thumb screw. Slight pressure will generally hold an umbrella in just fine.

question

Is the hole that accepts the umbrella at any slight angle? Some umbrelly brackets do, so the flash hits the center of the umbrella. Based on the pictures, it seems like the whole is drilled straight, so any flash would hit off center.
Asked by: Joseph Flores
Definitely straight. Dispersion is dependent on the size and shape of your umbrella of course, not to mention alternative ways to mount your flash(es).

question

Will the Westcott Adjustable Shoe Mount Umbrella Bracket accept Yongnuo YN685 flashgun without damaging it, or forcing it into the cold shoe of the bracket?
Asked by: Mustafa
No experience with Yongnuo, but if the flash fits in the hot shoe mount on your camera, it will work with this bracket.
