Speedotron Slave Tripper Overview

This is an optical slave that plugs into any strobe with a Female Household receptor. It "sees" the light from any other line of sight flash unit within 30', and fires its connected strobe instantaneously.

If for some reason it doesn't fire, just "reverse the polarity" by plugging it in the opposite way.

Speedotron Slave Tripper Reviews

Defective or does not work with Novatron power packs

Bought this to sync my Novatron 500 VR with other wireless strobes. It would not trigger the Novatron even when the other strobe was pointed directly at it from 2 ft away. I had to revert to a wired solution to trigger the Novatron. Either I received a defective unit or it does not work with Novatron power packs.

I'm not into bondage but I love my slave

I was in the middle of a shoot with a model and using my speedotron set-up, when all of a sudden after a mere 20 years, my slave died on me. I panicked that I wouldn't be able to replace something that must be so antiquated...but nay, B and H had just what I needed in stock and I received it within days. It works perfectly and it's so simple. Just plug it into your power pack and go!

question

Will this work with my norman p2000d and my canon t3i?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Norman P2000D would have a household type sync connection which can work with the Speedotron Optical Slave Tripper. If using the pop up flash from the Canon Rebel T3i, the flash would need to be in manual mode as using it in TTL may fire the flash prematurely. You may also use a radio trigger instead to fire the flash from the camera such as the PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack B&H # WIPWPX2P and the PocketWizard MH1 Miniphone to Household Cable - Straight - 16 (40.6 cm) B&H # WICHHM16. Basically one Plus X unit goes to the power pack with the suggested cable and one Plus X unit goes on the hotshoe on the camera. As long as both Plus X units are on the same channel, you would be able to fire the flash.

question

I have an older Sunpak 4000 Monolight that has a failed slave. Will this slave work in the female sync cord plug?
Asked by: Anonymous
Being that the Sunpak MS4000 monolight uses a household type sync connection, this slave unit can work with it.
