3.6x Optical Zoom Wide-Angle Nikkor Lens
The Zoom Nikkor Lens incorporates exclusive ED lens elements that deliver crisp, clear images, and provides a 3.6x optical zoom with wide angle capability (28mm-102mm equivalent) while the Macro capability lets you get as close as 2" to your subject.
Electronic VR Image Stabilization
The Coolpix P50 features Electronic VR capability to provide impressive image stabilizing performance. Using a built-in angular velocity sensor, the Electronic VR system applies in-camera image processing to help overcome the effects of camera shake and produce satisfyingly sharp images.
Easy-to-use Shooting Modes
In addition to a selection of 15 scene-optimized modes and five different movie modes, the handy Mode dial also allows users to easily select the Programmed Auto [P] mode which automatically selects the optimal camera settings, and the Manual [M] exposure mode which provides full control over both the aperture and shutter speed settings to provide greater personal control over camera operation.
Nikon In-Camera Red-Eye Fix
The Red-Eye Fix system automatically corrects for most instances of the red-eye effect that is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera.
Nikon D-Lighting

High ISO Capability
Covering an impressive sensitivity range from ISO 50 all the way up to ISO 2000, the Coolpix P50 makes it easier to take great-looking pictures in lower lighting conditions, or to capture fast moving subjects with outstanding clarity. The Coolpix P50 accurately measures available light to automatically select the optimal sensitivity setting for the shot, while its image-processing engine with enhanced noise reduction preserves high image quality when shooting at high ISO settings.
Built-in and Expandable Memory
The camera includes 52MB of built-in memory, and the memory capacity can be expanded dramatically with Secure digital (SD) or Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards.
Bright 2.4" LCD and Optical Viewfinder
The Coolpix P50 is equipped with a large 2.4" LCD that is great for viewing images anywhere, anytime; and the anti-reflective coating makes it easier for everyone to see and enjoy your images. Plus the camera incorporates an Optical Viewfinder for taking pictures in any type of lighting conditions.
Uses Convenient AA Batteries
The Coolpix P50 uses AA-size batteries; ensuring users can shoot with confidence, free of any worries about recharging batteries or running out of power, since users can simply purchase fresh batteries at any convenient location.
PictBridge and ImageLink Compatibility
Simply connect the Coolpix P50 to a PictBridge compatible printer with the included USB cable, engage the direct print feature, and print directly - without the need for a computer The direct print feature allows you to select all images or just the images you like best, and even make multiple copies to share with family and friends. The camera is also compatible with the ImageLink Printer interface system, and includes an appropriate Camera Dock Insert for this purpose.
