Tiffen filters are not dyed, but are manufactured by using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass and grinds down and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted to the metal ring, which after that can be screwed onto the lens for the desired effect.

Nicely made glass filter with an aluminum rim. Fit correctly at 49mm. Turned the blue sky dark as desired.

I’ve used Tiffen filters for about 45 years, and never gotten a flawed Tiffen filter. I use the #25 on a Voigtlander 50mm/f1.5, on a Leica M typ 246 Monochrom. Mostly I shoot land/seascapes. We have spectacularly clouds here in Florida, during monsoon season. I prefer a red or deep yellow filter to make the clouds pop. The #25 does an excellent job.

I dropped it on my tile floor and it didn’t crack so it’s getting 5/5 stars

This item would be a five star if it did not seem that this new filter was used. When i received it. it was packaged poorly and the case holding it was broken and looked as if it was already used before.

It's hard to find photographic equipment for non - digital cameras. Local stores didn't have it, and Amazon wasn't quite what I wanted. This red filter is what I wanted.

Not the best but . . .

I bought a set of inexpensive filters for an old Pentax K1000 that I enjoy using from time to time. The 49 mm will not fit any other camera lens I use and there was no point in spending more for Schott glass filters for this old camera. Yes, I could have just bought a step-up ring, but I prefer to just leave these 49 mm filters in the same bag as the camera. They work well enough that I cannot see any difference anyway.
