Manfrotto 047-3 overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto Alu-Core allows you to use the Expan system with uncored paper or cloth backgrounds. It consists of two aluminum sections which interlock by means of a joining casting. The Expans (available separately) are inserted into the Alu-Core and provide a core for background rolls.
This Alu-Core is 12' (3.6 m) long, when assembled. It replaces old catalog #2928.

    Manfrotto 047-3 reviews

    047-3 Alu-Core for Uncored Paper or Cloth - 12' (3.6 m) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Working with 12' cores. The 12' cores tend to sag in the middle which causes wrinkles in muslins. There is a PVC pipe that you can slip over the cores that greatly helps.Small countersunk screws keep the pipe from slipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have gotten this a long time ago I have a 12-foot paper background that came to me on a heavy cardboard roll. I purchased the Manfrotto Expan system with a chain so I could hang the background on a wall and roll and unroll the paper easily. Over time, the cardboard core begain to sag in the middle. It then became really hard to rool and unroll because of the sag. In fact, I ended up pulling the backet right out of the wall. Then I looked for a sturdy core that would hold the paper without sagging. The Manfrotto Alu-Core fit my current chain system perfectly. the only downside was getting paper off of the cardboard core and onto the Alu-Core. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as I thought! The paper now rolls and unrolls easliy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay--not great--not bad Does not fit tight where the poles join. Could have a better way to join the two poles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly waht we needed We need a cross support pole that was strong and also could be made smaller to be portable. This fits the bill.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good... I put my vinyl backdrop on it, and it works well so far. I didn't regret to buy it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some short comings. Non-cored cloth is hard to attach and keep straight. Manfrotto should include a snap over cover to affix the material to the core the same as they have on the P/N 0622 Background Paper Counterweight. Without something to hold the material firmly the cloth rolls-up un even and wrinkles which defeats the purpose of the roll system. I plan on trying a piece of 2 PVC pipe that is slotted to slip over the Alu-Core and hold the cloth.
