The Manfrotto 536 Carbon Fiber Video Tripod has four sections and a 75/100mm bowl adapter ring for industry standard fluid heads. With carbon fiber tubes and magnesium die castings, the 536 boasts great stability, high load capability, and a light weight.

Great Legs but terrible spreader mechanism

The legs themselves are great, very stable, very tall. The locking mechanism that allows the legs to spread out is GARBAGE. 2 of the 3 legs are now broken and wont lock into place. I can still use it but not what I'd expect from Manfrotto.

What a wonderful product! I have owned one for 4-5 years and purchased another 2 years ago. Both are taller, stronger and easier to use than almost any of the competition. They are actually priced on the low end for their purpose and build quality. I use both with Sachtler FSB-8 heads. Wonderful combination. My only real criticism would to just be careful (read don’t) crank down on a magic arm on these round, carbon tubes, they could be damaged.

Any recommendations on what half bowl to purchase with these sticks?

We believe you are asking for a half ball tripod head. If so, it does of course matter what camera you are using and what type of video work you will be doing. Here are two on the affordable side of the tripod range. Manfrotto 504HD Fluid Video Head B&H # MA504HD and the Libec RH25D Fluid Head B&H # LIRH25D. The MA504HD is hugely popular while the Libec is simply no nonsense quality. On the heavier side, you can consider then Manfrotto 509HD Professional Video Head B&H # MA509HD for a nice match of head and tripod or the VariZoom VZFH100 Fluid Head (100mm) B&H # VAVZFH100 which has a very good review.

Is it possible to use this tripod with a photo head? I'd like to purchase this for both video and photo use. I would use the 504HD for video work, then swap it out for a photo head. Is there any way to adapt this tripod for a photo head? Thank you!

Yes. You can buy a separate bowl adapter that will attach to any tripod head. We have one for our slider as well as a variety of heads.

How low can the legs go off the ground?

You could use the Manfrotto 165 On-Ground Tripod Spreader (B&H #MA165) or a 181 Folding Auto Dolly (B&H #MA181) to get the tripod legs off of the ground.
