Slik 700DX Pro overview

  • 1Description

Using a "Tri-Titanium" alloy compromised of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, the Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs has a strength-to-weight ratio 40% greater than comparable tripods in its class.  It is a very professional unit whether you're concerned with strength, fit and finish, or refinement of operation.  The rapid-type center column cannot rotate accidentally, and the lever locks work securely with a minimum of movement.  The 700DX has foam-padded upper segments to ease carrying on your shoulder and working in the cold, and its simple angled rubber feet give a firm footing on a wide variety of surfaces.

A professional's leg set with 30.2mm maximum diameter upper segments
Dual alignment grooves on all leg segments eliminate leg twist and increase strength
Individual 3-position leg angle locks for low angle work or use on uneven terrain
Rubber feet for maximum traction on a variety of surfaces
Working height of 70.1" puts camera's viewfinder at or above eye level for most users
Two-part center column allows lower minimum operating height

    Slik 700DX Pro reviews

700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 209.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Buy - Great Stability This was a great buy as my new main tripod. The setupcouldn't be easier and it is rock solid. I'm 5'10 and withthe legs fully extended with my 20D, I can just peek intothe view finder. For me its perfect. Even better if you'retaller. It folds up small enough 30, and its not toolunky. Store it in a bag if you travel with it. HighlyRecommended!! Expertise: Experienced Amateur Problems Encountered: I haven't experienced any problems with this yet. I'm alarger guy so the size and weight aren't an issue, but Icould see where it may be on a long trek. Otherwise a great buy Items I Recommend: Bogen / Manfrotto 804RC2 3-way Pan/Tilt Head

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for a fantastic tripod! I use this tripod in conjunction with a Vanguard GH-100 pistol grip ballhead and these legs are a rock solid base for an awesome head! I was definitely pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out of the box and didn't feel the weight that some people list as cons for these legs. Ive carried it around for a 4 hour photoshoot along woth my loaded camera bag and a light stand and I didn't have any problems! If you can stow your elitist desires, you will be amazed with these legs! I also love the squishy foam pads on the legs, very satisfying to the touch : I'm very pleased with the 700DX legs and I don't have anything bad to say about them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising in a Good way. This tri' is an excellent choice if you're looking for a sturdy pod, for a decent price tag. It has some weight to it, but nothing that I would complain about. It comes with a carrying bag which suites my need, though it be a little thin (no big deal). I have this paired with a Mfrotto 322RC2 head and couldn't be happier. Holds a 50D with 70-200 very well. Compared to my Mfrotto 055XPROB tripod, this one matches up quiet well. It doesn't have the fancy column like the 055X, but I really don't need that. If you need a nice sturdy tripod, but don't want to spend a million, give this one a go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Bang for the Bucks I work for an major International Airport and wanted to do some video clips for a big presentation and originally did the first video with my DSLR. Video quality on a DSLR was superior but not perfect because the most minute shaking of the camera made the video look very amateur. I requested the company to purchase a tripod and I was given a $$budget and I found the SLIK Pro 700DX. I've had bad experiences with tripods under $100 and the really good ones seemed to go well above $$. The 700DX is amazing. The second I picked it this heavy tripod, I knew I had a good quality tripod, and my videos came out amazingly sharp and jitter-free. I'm no professional videographer, but it did what I needed it to do and exceeded my expectations. It also looks cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value for the money! I am a serious amateur photographer who is very particular about the equipment I use. As far as I'm concerned there is not a better tripod for the money. I use mostly a medium format camera, with at times a 300mm lense. Fairly heavy equipment, and this tripod holds up very well. In cold weather it's nice having the padded legs as well as being comfortable to carry when slung over your shoulder. The legs are easy and fast to setup. I haven't found anything I dislike after several years of use. It takes a beating.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great value for casual photography I purchased this tripod based on its load capacity rating for use with a gimble type lens support and large telephoto lenses. Once in use it's of my opinion that the load rating for this unit may be slightly over-stated. I have since switched my equipment around utilizing this tripod with lighter camera systems and thereby acheiving very good results. I would recommend this tripod to the casual photographer but as a professional there may be limits to its use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near perfect tripod at a low price The Slik 700DX is an outstanding value! I bought the legs-only for less than $! Even the full assembly with head is less than $. I have several friends that have the complete tripod, so I am very familiar with it. I mounted a large Manfrotto ball head and couldn't be happier, although the combination becomes quite heavy compared to the Slik version. I love the silky action of the legs, the side clips for locking are very fast and sure, the adjustable collar for center post tension and the overall rock steadiness. I also like the rubber feet instead of spikes. The only thing I don't like is that the first opening position of the leg spread is a little tight. There are two other stops for widening the legs, and that's fine, But I would prefer a few more degrees of spread on initial opening. That is a very, very small complaint. It could use a decent shoulder strap. No complaints on function or appearance. I give it 5 stars out of 5 for function, reliability and value.Definitely superior to my Sanford & Davis' Magnum and Bogen 3011.My big Bogen 3051 is going to get a lot less use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice tall, sturdy, inexpensive tripod I'm an amateur/hobbyist photographer/videographer and after my last $50 tripod broke (the most recent in a series of short-lived tripods) i decided to spend a little more - my requirements were (still) inexpensive, moderate portability, higher than average and sturdy this tripod meets all my needs - it comes with a cheapo, but usable carrying bag and isn't so heavy that you can't lug it a few miles on foot - it feels well made and is nice and sturdy - i'm very pleased i didn't buy another el-cheapo tripod - this one should last a long time i paired it with a Silk 504QF-II head, which accommodates both video and still cameras - see my review of the head for hints on mounting it to this tripod
