Vortex DBK-01-BDC overview

  • 1Description

Vortex is dedicated to the development and production of unique optics with features that allow you to see the world more clearly. Their commitment to supporting efforts in the important areas of land conservation, wildlife and field habitat keep them in tune with the environment and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.

The Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback Riflescope is built to endure, perform, and excel. Its one-piece center-tube design is carefully constructed from 6061-T6 aluminum, and fitted with a precision adjustment system that allows for a generous amount of correction. The optical system is fully multicoated for a fine line of sight, and the entire assembly is then purged with argon gas for flawless all-weather performance.

The variable mid-range magnification of a 3-9x40 scope is extremely flexible; the balance of power against the efficient 40mm objective offers hunters excellent twilight performance with a comfortable sight picture in open fields and dense woods.

To use a riflescope with your firearm, you'll need a mounting base and mounting rings in addition to the scope itself. Bases attach to your firearm and rings attach to your scope. By affixing the scope mounted rings to the rifle mounted base you create a reliable, accurate, and secure sighting system. Proper spacing of the rings, as well as the ring height should be considered to ensure a proper line of sight can be established. This will maximize the value of your investment, and enhance your shooting experience. It should be noted that in many mounting applications, a professional gunsmith's skills will be needed for proper installation.

    Vortex DBK-01-BDC reviews

3-9x40 Diamondback Riflescope is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Quality! I have owned and throughly abused my diamondback 3-9x40 for about 4 years; its been rained on countless times, dropped as a result of sling malfunctions, its been frozen solid in -30(-22F), and even covered in mud from being strapped onto ATV's. I am thoroughly impressed. The glass on my diamondback is clear as day, the magnification ring is smooth, and aside from exterior scratches and scuffs the scope has held up wonderfully and is always bang on when it counts. Being a student this scope was at the top of my price range but DEFINITELY worth every dime. I have nothing but good to say about it. Vortex has gained a costumer for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely best one in price range The scope really has the widest field of view in 3X9 size and the clearest glass when compared to the other scopes priced in the same range and even higher. I compared to varix I&II, redfield, bushnell. nikon prostaff and buckmaster. Even though the diamondback was the best in daylight clarity, the buckmaster was the only one that could beat the vortex in low light. It blew me away how much contrast you get with the diamondback when looking through the scope. The extra wide field of view gives you an edge when scanning long range and for close in running game. The finger adjustable turrets are the best also. I chose this scope for my Dad since his eyesight is not what it used to be and it has helped him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 You can not buy a $$scope this good, ANYWHERE, period!!!! HUGE field of view, solid construction, glass should cost twice as much, bdc is as usable as any hunter needs, without being obtrusive, easy to get behind, and a great warranty. I own Weaver, Nikon( Pro Staff, Buckmaster, and Monarch ), Leopold( vx ll, vx lll, and vx3 ), Bushnell Elite, 3200, 4200, and the new elite, my next scope will be a Vortex. Can't wait to see a Viper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vortex Diamondback is a keeper This Diamondback is mounted on a 16 6.8 SPC MSR. The scope looks great, bright and clear to the edges but you do have to look directly through the scope or you loose the image. Adjustments have a positive and audible click. Sighting in was no problem and the adjustments seemed spot on at 100 yards. Although hunting season is out it seems to gather light really well at dusk when just looking through it. I've had limited range time with it so far and haven't had the chance to experiment with the BDC reticle but nothing looks cluttered and the reticle is easy to see. So far I'm well pleased with the scope and B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope for the price. Bought a Vortex Diamondback 3-9X40 and put it on my Ruger M77 Hawkeye .338Win Mag about 6 years ago and it's held up great with zero issues. I've taken it on many hunts over the years and have been successful. The scope has held up great over the last 6 years in the Alaskan Backcounty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Perfect for my .22 mag. Lightweight optic and durable for carrying through the woods on a regular basis. Year and a half later I’ve never had to make and adjustment after initial zero. Glass has never fogged no matter what weather conditions I was experiencing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small price, but doesn’t feel cheap Had this for over a year now and never had an issue. Never lost zero ever though I may have dropped it once or twice. Extremely well put together for the price range. You can’t lose with optic!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback Dead-Hold BDC I have a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP so I knew Vortex produces quality optics and of course you just can't compare a $$scope with a $200 scope. Instead I'll compare it to my Leupold VX2 3-9x40. The Diamondback definitely has better light transmission and produces a crisper image at lower magnifications. The Vortex is 1 shorter overall than the Leupold which is a plus, but I believe that the shorter length leads to a reduced exit pupil which makes eye placement critical to difficult above 7x magnification and about 30% of the image appears blurry or distorted on the edge of the FOV. The Leupold, with the longer OAL, produces a clear image for the entire FOV. Recticle adjustments are well defined and have held well so far. The Dead-Hold BDC recticle works very well with the 147gr 308 Win that I've been shooting in the rifle that the scope is mounted on. Overall, the Vortex appears to be a good quality scope for the money, but I will have to limit field use to under 7x and save higher magnification for target practice only. I'll use the scope rather than send it back, but if I had to do it again I'd buy a different scope.
