SampleTron from IK Multimedia and Sonic Reality is a virtual instrument that recreates the great sounds of the Meletron, Chamberlin and Optigan. These instruments used tapes and plastic film discs to play back pre-recorded sounds at the touch of the keys, and produced very unique gritty, emotional and quirky Lo-Fi sounds.

Apart from simply replicating the sounds of the instruments, SampleTron utilizes the SampleTank engine to allow for manipulating the sounds into other sonic worlds, quickly and easily. Up to sixteen instruments can be layered at the same time to create lush soundscapes, or key-splits created for easy playability of several instruments at the same time across.

A thirty-two effect library contains delays, choruses, flangers, distortions, reverbs and additional manipulation tools, as well as synthesizer based effects such as FM and AM modulation, Lo-Fi, and Slicer. Additionally, the power of the SampleTank's synthesizer engine can be harnessed for further sound re-shaping.
