The Nikon WG-AS1 Water Guard is designed to maintain the D3's high level of dust and water protection, when used in combination with the SB-900 Speedlight flash unit. The WG-AS1 clips onto the flash unit's foot, creating a shield against dust and water.
Minute movement with my SB 900 speedlight in the hot shoe of my D200 irked me.With this wonderful waterguard the fitment is perfect.I love the battery grip to the camera ,open the door and both battery's are there.The waterguard does not fit my D7000,.it is easy to take off.Nikon says they do not make one for D7000.I will use the Sb 800 as it is a perfect fit on the D 7000.The Sb 900 needs a waterguard to fit the D 7000.The D 200 and the Sb 900 are a match.Both massive and feel great with a Nikon telephoto F2.8. Plus the occasional teleconverter.As perfect as a can get.I shoot for perfection.Amen.
It does what it claims to do. With the SB-900 mounted on the D-3, it keeps the hot shoe from being getting dirt and debris inside. Advertises to keep out water...who would use a flash in the rain?
