    Blue Icicle reviews

Icicle - USB Microphone Interface is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 64-bit Fail While this might be a good XML to USB converter, anyone running a 64-Bit operating system will never get to experience it. It seems that Blue never commissioned a driver that would support the device on a 64-Bit OS. I read quite a few forum post about this with some dating back to 2010. They said Blue treated all cases like this as if they had received a defective device. I contacted them a few days before this review and they gave me the same response. This seems to be a common problem with most entry level converters and preamps alike. However both Shure and MXL make converters you can buy here at B&H that will do the job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't get enough volume I couldn't get enough volume. I reached out to Blue. Customer Service on a Friday. On Wednesday, I received a response to lower volume all the way in system prefs (OS X) and bring it back up. By then, I had already returned it. This tip wasn't in FAQs or any posts I could find THe device doesn't have a headphone jack or monitor and feels flimsy. For double the price, I bought a SHURE. Definitely worth the price difference

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sounding , nice price I have used it for a year now, and it still works fine:) It is very lightweight and made of plastic, but works very well for that price. I use it to record my lectures at Uni through MacOsx. Garageband recognizes it without problems- and I use my condenser mic, cause Icicle has phantompower. For making music I prefere my apogee duet wich has a warmer sound. Icicle is not bad sounding at all! but I did pickup on a difference in sound ( and price:) You can adjust the preamp on the devise wich is very useful, though the knob is a little sensative.... I would buy another should it break.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Icicle - USB mic interface When I first received this product it worked fine for the first few days. But I can already tell I may have to return it and/or get something else that is a little more durable/reliable. It's starting to break up the recording with noise. I have to stop what I'm doing, unplug the USB cable from either the device or the computer, plug it back in and try again. Then it will either work or I will have the same problem. I shouldn't have to do this continuously just to make it work. Bottom line is this is a cheap product. Not sure if the plastic has anything to do with it, but I'm going to have to upgrade soon. The Icicle should last longer than this. Don't bother buying it unless you are dead broke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great interface for basic applications . I wanted to use this for some single mic applications like field recording and musical ideas on the fly....The only thing is that this WILL NOT work with any professional DAW...It simply does not have an output so the DAW will not recognize it as an I/O device.....I feel that that should have been stated much clearer in the description...Its not very clear on the BLUE website either...But used with other basic audio programs it sounds great...strong levels and sound...a little cheap and very plastic feel ...be careful not to drop it or bang it around in a gig bag..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap looking but gets it done. I bought this to pair with an SM58 for vocal recordings. I needed an XLR-USB device with a preamp because the Alesis Miclink was not cutting it signal/noise wise. The blue icicle has a tacky looking white look. Takes a usb mini cable (as opposed to an A-B cable like for a printer). And fails to monitor in real time -- at least with windows 7, it could be an OS thing. Other than that, it's perfect. There is a ton of gain on this thing and a low noise floor. This is definitely better than going XLR--> TRS to your sound card. To top it off, the icicle is cheap. If you don't need real-time monitoring it's probably the best and cheapest solution to hook up a dynamic XLR mic to your computer. So much for Karaoke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ALL IN ONE MIC INTERFACE If you guys are looking for a Mic Interface without the hassle of other bulky interface this will end your search and purchase this one. It has a knob that can control the gain level in front and also has a high end futuristic look that illuminates the blue lettering and the white casing in dark settings. It's an easy 123 setup where you plug the cords in your computer and the condenser cord you have and your good to go and record your seasons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a charm picked this up to use a pro quality condenser mike with sony sound forge on my coumpter. The unit is easy to use and fills the requirement for a pre-amp and as a interface to the usb jack on my coumpter..I purchased it from BH because I knew if it did not work as I hperd it would return/ exchange would not be a problem. So far so good. I need more experence with my setrling mike and the software now..Can't blame the equipment.
