This 24" x 39' roll of William Turner 190 Matte FineArt Paper from Hahnemuhle features a 190 gsm paper that was designed for archival purposes. It is mould-made from cotton rag to produce a textured matte finish. This gives it a heavy weight, which combines with a 16.5 mil thickness for a professional look and feel. Also, the paper features an 88.5% whiteness and an opacity of 96.5% for a classic white finish. For archival purposes no optical brighteners were used in this paper. It is acid free and calcium carbonate buffered to avoid negative effects from the environment. Additionally, William Turner paper is instant drying and water resistant. It comes on a 3" core.

William Turner 190 Matte FineArt Paper (24" x 39' Roll) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lovely Texture; Technically Challenging There's a lot to love about the heavily textured surface of this paper and how it feels in the hand, but buyers should beware: It is incredibly challenging to handle on multiple fronts: First, as with all matte papers, it marks incredibly easily. Being heavily textured, marks also have a burnishing effect which is extremely evident on darker printed areas. Simply stroking the edge of another piece of paper over a print is enough to visibly mar it. Extreme caution must be used when handling dark prints, especially when trimming. The visible damage can be reduced?though not altogether eliminated?by spraying prints with a matte finish such as acrylic. The other major annoyance with this paper is that the textured surface causes the clay stabilizer to fall off in pinholes. This has two effects: First, it clogs print heads significantly more frequently than other print heads (causing wastage in both an incredibly expensive paper and ink for the print plus cleaning afterward), and second, visible pinholes appear in dark areas of prints, which stand out because the pinhole is of course white. While the pinholes can be remedied after the fact using a magnifier, fine paintbrush, and leftover ink from an empty cartridge, it involves yet more handling which can exacerbate the first problem. Finally, this paper does have a really coarse appearance which is unsuitable for many photographic projects as it imparts undesirable texture to smooth gradients such as sky or skin. It is best-suited for fine art prints that emulate coarse hand-made or machine-made papers, especially ones that don't feature large areas of dark, continuous tones. Watercolour, graphite, pastel, pencil crayon, and ink drawings originally made on rough watercolor paper are perfect subjects for this paper. Prints may also be intentionally burnished in printed areas using a bone folder or agate burnishing tool to smooth paper as the pressure of hard media would do to simulate their appearance.
