The Cavision MHE52 is a monitor hood specifically designed for the Sony HDR-TG1 pocket handicam. The unique design of the hood allows it to double as a viewfinder converter, greatly improving focus ability and frame composition. With use of optional adapters, this viewfinder can also be fitted to cameras with 3.5" and 3" LCDs, including the Canon 5D Mark II and other DSLRs.

Cavision MHE52 Reviews
helped me customize my camcorder.
I own a Panasonic ag ac160 and it is a great camcorder. The only problem is as a former ENG shooter, I have missed the form factor of a shoulder mount camera. When I'm on sticks looking through the rear mounted viewfinder it is not a problem and if I'm not in bright light the LCD is fine. However if I'm shooting in sunlight and want to grab the camera and get some B roll I can wedge the cam against my shoulder and using this magnified viewfinder stapped to the LCD I can go portable and with the $5.00 optional adaptor it fits my 3 and a half inch screen perfectly. I have to be careful not to let the sun shine into the viewfinder as the magnified light can damage the viewfinder. It's not like a real shoulder mount but it's OK for grabbing a few shots. Without the adaptor, the viewfinder fits my consumer cam which only has an LCD like so many cameras today.
